Seagull, Cows and Sea Views

A seagull looked quizzically at me as we looked at St Michael’s Mount in the distance.

We watched as a herd of cows made their way from field to farm to be milked.

Such a blustery day, there were white horses as far as we could see either way along the coast. It has also been very cold here in West Penwith.

Hayle, Penzance, Tremenheere and Marazion

A quick visit to Hayle today and a look in the market in the Old Foundry Chapel (the wool shop has gone!), coffee in a small shop with a lovely glass ornament display, on to Penzance to show A as many of its treasures as we could fit in and thence to Tremenheere Sculpture Park to see the Restless Temple and for the first time today, we were delighted to have a fierce wind. You can see below the fabulous view of St Michel’s Mount (for you, Liz) through another sculpture. From there we went to Marazion in the hope of seeing the Murmuration again. We were not disappointed but again my video isn’t worth showing so please click on this link to see the murmuration we experienced a couple of weeks ago. The whole thing is spine-tingling to watch. The ooohs and aaahs tonight from the spectators were like those one hears at a fireworks show.

Disaster, Delight and Penzance Doors

Some time ago, in April, I saw a delightful tea set in a local antique shop and returned a few days later to buy it. We have used the tea pot every day since and the other pieces whenever folk come in for tea. Disaster struck a few days ago when I knocked the spout on the tap………. It is now on a high shelf among my other tea pots and where the damage cannot be seen.

To my delight today, I found a fabulous replacement, full of colour and joy!

Three front doors appealed to me today as we walked around Penzance. I loved the door knocker on one and the colours, flowers and bunting on the others.

Just past those houses, the bell tower with St Michael’s Mount behind came into view, the sun glinting on one of the windows.

A Day Out with Very Dear Friends

Join us on our day out – to St Ives on the train, one of the best rides ever along the Cornish coast, in St Ives, to Mounts Bay and thence to Chysauster Ancient Village, home for a break and on up to Carn Brea and home for a relaxed and happy dinner with delicious fresh Runner Beans from the garden. Stamps, Mists and Beans

Still sorting! Today I found some stamps dated from 1980, one of which brought a wry smile – the one on the right with the words, “America’s Light Fueled by Truth and Reason.”

We went to Marazion Bay again today to find a few stones for our fountain. It was cold, wet and windy and the wind-surfers were have an exhilarating time.

Boot Sale, Marazion and Coffee Cake

We went early to the car boot sale this morning in the hope of finding baby walkers for our Grandbaby twins who will be visiting very soon. (Imagine the growing excitement!) We didn’t find walkers but we did find two activity mats which look like fun though now that M is rolling he may not stay on his very long!

After the very busy car boot sale, we went on to Marazion – cool but always beautiful.

Reflection of a paddler

Here in Britain, if one makes a coffee cake, it will have coffee in it (like the very delicious Coffee and Pecan Cake) but we learned when visiting America, that there, a coffee cake is one that goes well with a cup of coffee! Today I felt like baking and found numerous recipes – the one I finally made is an amalgam and it tastes as good as it looks! I’ll post the recipe this week.

Mount’s Bay, St Michael’s Mount and Twin Seats

Such a lovely bright day today so off we went to Mount’s Bay where the wind was blowing a hoolie and it was very cold but it was also very beautiful! There were others walking on the beach, a windsurfer having fun on the water and a freight ship in the distance

The Mount was looking particularly lovely in the sunshine.

The local supermarket is all geared up for the visit in August of our Grandbaby twins!

Walking and Singing Together

Dylan Thomas once said of Mousehole (pronounced Mowzel) that it was the prettiest village in England and it was here that we started our walk today with singers from two Cornish choirs, Levow an Bys and Dawn Chorus, in aid of Freedom from Torture. Join us all on this chilly walk as we make our way through Mousehole into Newlyn and thence to Penzance stopping at various points along the way to sing. What a splendid afternoon. Lights, Clouds and A Castle

We went to Marazion to see the murmuration at sunset tonight but no starlings came by. That was disappointing but the shot I got of Penzance lights reflected in the water in Mount’s Bay pleased me greatly.
