Sea Views, Art Galleries and Music

This was another day designed to drive away despondency so – sea views, art and music. There was to be earring shopping but we couldn’t find any with the wow needed in any of the galleries we visited. We visited a small and very beautiful gallery, Morvah Schoolhouse in the tiny village of Morvah in Penwith.IMG_1096

From there we went into Penzance to browse the galleries starting at Penlee where in the garden is the charming piece by Kurt Jackson , Broccoli Juggler. Later, in the town, after lunch at Mr Billy’s, we happened upon Femmes de la Mer singing in the street – what delight!IMG_1114

Our treat in the Schoolhouse cafe was a piece of Hevva cake to share.

Remembering Bill Mitchell 1951 – 2017

Our Dear friend and neighbour Bill Mitchell died on this day last year and we have been remembering him today in various special ways. Firstly, here is my Welly Dog, left to me by Bill, seen here with Tulips.

Welly Dog with Tulips

Bill was an artist as well as a theatre director and painted a particular area in West Penwith most weeks. Each of his friends was invited after his death to choose a painting which was a very lovely thing. Today, many of his friends came down to Botallack where the paintings were made and we walked all around in Bill’s footsteps, following his paintings through the landscape, all the while sharing memories of this lovely man.

Seagull, Cows and Sea Views

A seagull looked quizzically at me as we looked at St Michael’s Mount in the distance.

We watched as a herd of cows made their way from field to farm to be milked.

Such a blustery day, there were white horses as far as we could see either way along the coast.  It has also been very cold here in West Penwith.
