Baubles, View and Light Tree

At the orthopaedics out-patient clinic today – everyone was so kind, thoughtful, informative and friendly. I love our NHS and its amazing staff who made  my visit a very good experience. All the walls were decorated with baubles and snowflakes and it was very pretty.

The view across the Hayle Estuary was lovely in the brief sunshine.

My choir did a brief warm up and rehearsal outside the Gylly cafe tonight on our way to our performance.

Hayle, Penzance, Tremenheere and Marazion

A quick visit to Hayle today and a look in the market in the Old Foundry Chapel (the wool shop has gone!), coffee in a small shop with a lovely glass ornament display, on to Penzance to show A as many of its treasures as we could fit in and thence to Tremenheere Sculpture Park to see the Restless Temple and for the first time today, we were delighted to have a fierce wind. Do click on the link/https://restlesstemple.co.uk/. My video of the Temple being restless was too wobbly as I was being blown about!  You can see below the fabulous view of St Michel’s Mount (for you, Liz) through another sculpture.  From there we went to Marazion in the hope of seeing the Murmuration again. We were not disappointed but again my video isn’t worth showing so please click on this link to see the murmuration we experienced a couple of weeks ago. The whole thing is spine-tingling to watch. The ooohs and aaahs tonight from the spectators were like those one hears at a fireworks show.

Makers Shop, Puffing Devil and City of Lights

I discovered a wonderful shop in Hayle today, especially for people like me who love to make. The sign outside first caught my eye, then the shop itself and inside was a treasure trove with rainbows of colour everywhere. I shall be back.

I was lucky today to see a working replica of Trevithick’s Puffing Devil. It was Truro’s City of Lights celebration tonight and the lanterns were better than ever. The theme was story characters. I wonder how many you recognise.

Summer Flowers, Flambé Banana and Chinese Proverb

1   There are so many beautiful front gardens in Hayle, a mass of colour and scent to be treasured.

2   We stopped at Johnny’s Cafe for lunch and after some very tasty Kaffir Lime and Sweetcorn Fritters, I had the Flambé Cinnamon Banana with Ice-cream – delicious!  If you are ever in Hayle, this is the place for a delicious meat-free meal. We aren’t vegetarians but we just love the food made freshly to order with locally sourced ingredients that is served here.

3   I found a lovely little notebook with a Chinese proverb on it that just seemed to suit me.

Snowdrops, Shells, Swans and Wigeons

1  Cold and grey here in Redruth so we headed West towards a bit of blue sky and had a brilliant sunny stomp through the dunes and along Porth Kidney. Beautiful snowdrops in the hedgerow where we parked.

2  Collected several little treasures for my ‘washed-up’ collection.

3   In the estuary at Hayle we saw lots of swans and saw Wigeon for the first time. The males are very pretty – grey with a pink breast, orange head and a yellow forehead; the females, rusty brown.
