1 One of my favourite shops in Truro, the fabric shop, also delighted J who loved all the coloured ribbons.

2 The Wildworks’ Cabinet of Cornish Curiosities is still in the Museum in Truro and T loved opening the drawers to find what was inside. Her favourite was the drawer with all the coloured plastic pieces found on Cornish beaches.

Loving opening the drawers
3 The delicacy of the Clematis shows well in the light of dusk.

1 I used to love finding fairies in the garden when I was a little girl and never being told that they were Clematis seed heads floating on the breeze. Today I found one in a bucket of water and was delighted with the subsequent unexpected photo.

2 The very last flower on the Pelargonium was caught in the sunshine today with the anthers making such a delicate shadow.

3 Of many photos taken trying to catch the fluttering butterfly, I eventually managed one as it took nectar from the lovely Heliotrope, otherwise known as Cherry Pie because of its delicious fragrance.

2 We went to the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro today and Jake had great fun being an explorer.

3 Mr S spotted this beautiful little fossil stone amongst the many on the drive.

1 Beautiful news about the safe arrival of Ionie, 3.4kg, in Munich, first baby for my nephew and his wife. I’ll have to get busy on the Sally-boots!
2 Today’s very beautiful rain-drenched flowers in our garden.

3 Finished reading ‘the earth hums in b flat’ by Mari Strachan, a delightful novel about growing up that begins “I fly in my sleep every night.” I loved that opening as I spent many of my childhood nights flying too! The novel is intriguing, full of childish misconceptions and a growing sense of self.

1 Half way through my printing of today’s Wedding Ceremony, the black ink ran out! Possible disaster but no! I found my beautiful fountain pen and in my best handwriting ( which I have been complimented upon in the past) I copied out the first three pages from the draft (the rest was printed). It took a while but it looks lovely and it was easy to read for the Ceremony this afternoon….
2 ……..and that was so beautiful! There was a very cold wind blowing through the arch I showed you on Friday but the couple were so happy and just grinned at each other the whole time! They’ve been together for 16 years and have two children and are still so much in love – now that really is beautiful to see! Like our own wedding, almost 45 years ago, lots of things were homemade and quite delightful.

3 This Clematis was pointed out to me by Mr S this evening as I’ve been out most of the day. I just have to say here – I am so loved and very lucky to have this lovely man in my life.

- The same clematis from underneath, quite gorgeous
and I have to add No 4 tonight because as I was writing this my lovely friend John phoned me from the pub where a Cornish Shout is happening but I can’t be there as we’re away to London very early in the morning. Over the phone I have just listened to one of my favourites, ‘Estren’ and my eyes have been full of tears at the sound and at his kindness.

1 The broad beans are up about 3″ and I’ve planted Limnanthus (Poached egg plant) between the rows to attract the hover flies which are supposed to eat the aphids! I planted the leeks today in their deep holes in one raised bed and had some left over so I’ve put them in the salad bed quite close together so we can have some baby leeks earlier than the others.

2 All the time I was working in the vegetable garden, wafts of Clematis scent came drifting across – quite delightful.

3 Mark Steek was in town tonight, well, in Falmouth. Both before and after the show, we walked along the sea front and heard the sea breaking on the shore. From 8 until 11.30, Mark Steel kept the packed theatre laughing!
It was so sad to smell the smoke and see the tortured remains of the Falmouth Beach Hotel which had such a terrible fire on 30th April. Fortunately all missing people have now been traced but so many lives and jobs will have been affected.

1. An absolute downpour today, all night, all day but – serendipity indeed – a friend asked us for something from the shed so Mr S went out and caught the mini-flood in our yard just before it came through the air brick into the house. Beautiful timing!
2. Yesterday when we moved the Clematis a few pieces had to be cut to remove it from the trellis but that wasn’t a disaster but an opportunity to have some beautiful flowers indoors.

3. Through pouring rain, along roads running with rivers, through patches of floods, we arrived at King Edward’s Mine in Troon for their Open Day. With Pip conducting, The Inglehearts sang, first accompanying the delightful children from Troon Primary School and then accompanied by the rain drumming on the corrugated roof . We had a lovely sing and all felt better for it!

1 My dear sister, Daisy aka Deborah, posted a picture of this beautiful painting, her first done since she moved from Arizona to Hawaii. I so admire her talent. You can see another of her paintings here http://wp.me/p1Ypl6-X

2 We have successfully moved this clematis, Sweet Sensation, from the back garden to the new fence and trellis at the front.

I love the pale green in the centre of the white.
3 Clearing off my planting table I found this beautiful fungus, like a flower petal, so delicate and colourful! Click on the photo to see the feathery detail.

1 Asked by whatshappeningatmyhouse, which charity would I give £1m if I had such a sum, I realised that ShelterBox is one of my beautiful things. Started by one man with a very big heart and a very special vision, here in Cornwall, this charity works worldwide to give shelter and dignity to those affected by disaster, be it natural (tsunami, earthquake etc) or man-made (war, civil strife etc). It was indeed, a beautiful thing Tom Henderson started. http://www.shelterbox.org/

ShelterBox has brought these Fijian families new homes allowing them to start to rebuild their lives again whilst living in comfort and dignity.
2 My good friend, Jean, gave us a rhubarb plant at choir on Monday – and because we cannot pick any until next year, gave me a bunch of rhubarb too. Today I’ve made a very special pudding that has been cooked in our family for three generations! It’s an Ambrose Heath recipe called Rhubarb Butterscotch Pie but we don’t put it in a pie case and we call it Different-Every-Time Pudding because it is! See my Food pages for the recipe and photos of the process and see shelikesherfood for KJ’s take on the pudding.

3 Both our garden and next-door’s have some beautiful, delicate colour at the moment.
