Malt Loaf, Feather and Evening Sky

I made a simple and healthy Malt Loaf today. We are enjoying it!

I spotted a feather hanging from the Clematis leaves and went out into the back garden to get a photograph.

My walk took me down the lane to visit my lovely neighbour at her allotment this afternoon. She drew my attention to the beautiful evening sky behind me.

For those of you who liked the sound of yesterday’s vegan supper, I have put the recipe on my Recipes – Savoury page. Here is the link https://mybeautfulthings.com/recipes-savoury/spinach-chickpea-and-lemon-pilaf/

Singing, Choir Baby and Kedgeree

1   What a joy to be back at singing again this morning. I couldn’t join in everything but enjoyed watching our beautiful Choir baby, playing, dancing and singing.

2   Choir baby E has grown up so much in the weeks I have been away. Our last song today was the rousing Bella Ciao and our choir leader gave E her own copy of the words. She held them very seriously and sang along with fervour with the rest of us.

For a special treat, watch this short video, not very good quality but a treat nevertheless, listening to Choir-baby E singing Bella Ciao, backed by The Suitcase Singers.

3    A quick and easy supper was called for so Kedgeree (of a sort) was our choice.

Le Petit Prince, Simple Supper and Wild Strawberries

1   I was first introduced to the beautiful story, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, many, many years ago when I was in the 6th form and in France for a three week exchange with Josiane Fromage and her family in Toulouse. (Wouldn’t it be just brilliant if she, or someone who knows her, were to read this blog?)  Finding this quotation, “One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye,”  the Fox speaking to the Little Prince, has inspired me to read it again.

2   A simple supper tonight of enormous mushrooms stuffed with a vegetable and rice mixture, topped with cheese and served with a flower salad from our garden.

3   We found a few more wild strawberries in the garden today and had them with some delicious vanilla ice-cream in a little ramekin.

Painting, Peppers and Peachy Clouds

1   This beautiful little painting (and it is little, only 6″x6″) was my Christmas present from the lovely Mr S. I love Sasha Harding‘s work.

3   As it has become dusk, (later and later each day, I’m delighted to report)  these peachy clouds appeared over the rooftops opposite.

Migrating Geese, Godrevy and Another Simple Supper

1   We took P, my brother-in-law, to the car-boot sale this morning and I found the next size up, but still very small and delightful, wet-suit for Jake but the highlight of our morning was the flocks of migrating geese, dozens of them, honking their way overhead. This is but a few of those who flew by.

2    After the boot sale we went along the coast at Godrevy, blown to bits by a crazy warm wind and came back feeling exhilarated and exhausted by the effort of battling the wind!

We did heed the warnings!

3   Made a fabulously delicious simple supper of Leek Risotto with Chestnuts!

Leek and Chestnut Risotto

I’ll put the recipe up if anyone fancies it – truly scrumptious!

Just been watching the closing ceremony of the Paralympics and want to say how inspirational the athletes are. I hate, though, the hypocrisy of our politicians who at one moment praise the athletes and in another make polices that result in hurting so many of our disabled people.

Bluebell Lane, Broccoli and A Very Big Moon

1   Had a beautiful drive down a little Cornish lane lined with drifts of bluebells.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

2  Made a simple supper with beautiful purple sprouting broccoli a la Spring Simplicity but I left out the garlic because of tomorrow’s wedding and added some very crisply fried bacon – delicious! Thank you, Promenade Plantings for the inspiration.

3   The moon tonight is full and looks huge! I’m told that’s because it’s closer to the Earth than usual. It is certainly very beautiful.

Train Journey, Home from Senegal and a Simple Supper

1    The train journey through English countryside:  The Somerset Levels, The White Horse, springy little  lambs, a Thelwell pony, flowers-in-a-boat on the station platform at Saltash, and above all, the vibrant green of the fields.

2   Coming home, beautiful bluebells and primroses in the front garden and coming into our house.

3  A very simple and very tasty supper of two poached eggs on toast!

and I’ll start writing about the beautiful things of Senegal tomorrow.

New Baby, Blogger Award and a Simple Supper

1   Work on the fence has stopped temporarily as our lovely landscaper became a Dad overnight!  Congratulations to D&P. I’ll have to get busy on a pair of Sally-Boots!

2    I’ve been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!   Very pleasing. Check out the details here http://mybeautfulthings.com/versatile-blogger-award/ or by clicking at the top left of the page.

3  The simplest of suppers – Tomato and Mozzarella Pasta – delicious!

Bonus for today……

No 4  We’ve just seen Venus and Jupiter, seemingly very close together, in the night sky just above where the sun set. I’m told they are 3-4* apart and will be visible in our sky until Saturday if the skies are clear.
