Cherries, Jam Doughnut and Another Simple Supper

1   Bought these cherries from the local greengrocer. Aren’t they beautiful?

Beautiful bowl of cherries

2   Couldn’t resist a jam doughnut from the local bakery! Can’t remember when I last had one. It was sooooo delicious!

3   A very simple supper of Broad Bean and Shallot Risotto, the beans and the shallots all grown in our garden!

Forgotten Foxglove, Vegetable Ring and Fuchsias

1   We discovered this fallen-over self-seeded foxglove some time ago and brought it out of hiding. Now it has straightened itself up.

Forgotten foxglove

2   I made a mini vegetable ring today (as I saw demonstrated at the Pampered Chef party). I had no recipe but did what I thought I remembered and it has worked. I’ll put the recipe up on my Recipe page soon.

2  The fuchsia flowers in our harlequin hedge are in flower. Many years ago, I was given these beautiful earrings to remind me of my beloved Cornwall.

Tiny Socks, Warm Bath and Pea Souk Cafe

1  A friend saw my little golden-boots in yesterday’s post and sent me this picture. What beautiful little socks and such skill of the maker to whom I send the utmost admiration! Do click to see the detail.

Tiny socks

2   I love this beautiful advice sent to me today by a young friend.  Putting them in water if they are crabby is such brilliant advice! A warm bath works wonders!

How to really love a child

3    We’ve been out to eat tonight at the most amazing little vegetarian restaurant, Pea Souk in Falmouth. What a delicious spread and everything freshly prepared and all grown here in Cornwall if not right there in Falmouth.

Bruschetta of Mozzarella, pea shoots, homegrown rocket pesto and radishes

Indian plate of Keralan green pea cakes, coconut, spinach and fresh curry leaf broth, aloo gobi, rice, carrot salad

Poppies, Three Folk on a Bench and Rainbow Supper

1    I saw these when I went for my (very successful!) piano lesson. Aren’t they beautiful? I must grow some.

Californian Poppies

2    We met this happy trio when we went to a garden centre in Wadebridge to buy some trellis panels. They were very happy for me to take their photo. The women said that Charlie wasn’t very talkative but would be happy enough to be in the photo.

3   A beautiful almost Rainbow supper tonight, Red peppers, Orange carrots, (no Yellow but we had bananas in our breakfast pancakes) Green broccoli and Green beans, no Blue (but there were blueberries in the pancakes too), Indigo in the aubergines and Violet in the once red onions which went violet as they cooked! A rainbow a day keeps the doctor away!

An Email, Horses and Another Simple Supper

1   An email from a dear friend saying that I have just made her day!

2   Four horses in the field behind us today.

Four horses

3  Beautiful simple supper of grilled peppers with garlicky tomatoes and grilled Halloumi on top and served with some crispy bread to soak up the juices. Scrumptious!
