Weekly Photo Challenge – Illumination – Daybreak, Midday and Evening

1    I’d been contemplating the Weekly Photo Challenge and then woke to the beautiful illumination of first the sky by the sun, then of the chimneys opposite and the cottage, and then of the painting in the study.

2   We had a walk in the bright chill along the low cliffs at Godrevy, the only sound that of the sea, and the midday sun continued its illuminations of everything around me. I just love how the sun beams through the empty snail shell.

3   The last photo is of our new fence lit up last June by the evening sun.

PS Would you believe I missed this spectacular sunset?    I’ve been given permission to show you this one by Paul Hoskin.

Migrating Geese, Godrevy and Another Simple Supper

1   We took P, my brother-in-law, to the car-boot sale this morning and I found the next size up, but still very small and delightful, wet-suit for Jake but the highlight of our morning was the flocks of migrating geese, dozens of them, honking their way overhead. This is but a few of those who flew by.

Migrating Geese

2    After the boot sale we went along the coast at Godrevy, blown to bits by a crazy warm wind and came back feeling exhilarated and exhausted by the effort of battling the wind!

Godrevy Lighthouse

We did heed the warnings!

3   Made a fabulously delicious simple supper of Leek Risotto with Chestnuts!

Leek and Chestnut Risotto

I’ll put the recipe up if anyone fancies it – truly scrumptious!

Just been watching the closing ceremony of the Paralympics and want to say how inspirational the athletes are. I hate, though, the hypocrisy of our politicians who at one moment praise the athletes and in another make polices that result in hurting so many of our disabled people.

Falmouth, Maritime Museum and Godrevy

1    It was a beautiful sunny day in Falmouth where we met P&V who came over from St Mawes on the ferry.

2    We had a lovely time playing with the remote controlled sailing boats in the Maritime Museum.

3    Try to imagine sitting on the cliffs as the sun sets into the sea and hearing the waves lapping on the shore. Gradually, lights appear on the island and all the while you are listening to a soundscape of beautiful love poems……..  That was us, this evening,  taking part in the Peace Camp 2012, part of the Cultural Olympiad. If you are reading this and are near one of the other installations around the British coast, do try to join in. It is a truly beautiful experience.Wherever you live, you could still download the soundtrack,http://www.peacecamp2012.com/locations/godrevy-head.aspx  enlarge one of my photos, listen and imagine!
