1. We saw the Greatest Rock and Roll Band In The World ( The Rolling Stones!) in Hyde Park yesterday, stayed overnight in a hotel in Covent Garden and had breakfast in a lovely cafe on Piccadilly as we watched the 10K run go by.
2. From there we went to see The Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy, a real treat. I loved this ‘Enebriated Owl’.
3. KJ met us at the station and took us to meet the family for a picnic in the park. What a beautiful day!

1. Tate Britain has an exhibition of Lowry’s paintings. What a treat to see so many at once and to be able to be so close to them. I grew up with a signed print which I inherited and love the figures and the detail. It is striking to observe the lives of people displayed in all their sadnesses and poverty, the evictions, the hospital scenes and the working lives and, in contrast, the occasional joys of fair days and of VE celebrations.
2. These beautiful white roses were in a garden as we walked from the tube to the Tate.
3. Grand-baby T loves the trampoline.
1. We love our five hour train journey up to London through glorious English countryside and along the coast.

3. Grand-baby J starts school in September and we were lucky enough to be able to go to the open evening. I love this poster and its philosophy.
1 Â On this gloriously sunny day we went to visit friends for a Pool Party! Â The sun lit up the surface of the water and made a lovely turtle shaped shadow.

2  There was a nest of swallows in their shed and the babies were just getting ready to fly. Just before we arrived there were five babies lined up on the beam. When we went in to look, one little baby was clinging to the wall and another was still in the nest but all the others seemed to have flown out into the sunshine to join their parents.

3  Some very beautiful and voracious Mullein Moth caterpillars were devouring Scrophularia nodosa – there was hardly a leaf to be seen, just a few flowers left. There were at least a dozen on each plant, very busily munching away.

1 Â It is another absolutely beautiful day and next door have their washing on the line. I love to see the much -loved rabbits drying in the sunshine.

2 Â The Oriental Poppy that was opening yesterday is open in all its glory today. It is almost 7″ across but for some reason it is facing the wall, not the sun and not the garden!

3 Â I have been to the Osteopath today and he has worked his usual magic! Â I am pain free as I write!

Summer has finally arrived in Cornwall and we have had a very lazy day enjoying the warmth and the summer sounds – the murmuration of bees, the scratching of magpies’ claws as they walk up the roof tiles next door and, this evening, the soughing of the waves on the shore.
