Weekly Photo Challenge – Nostalgia

I made Blackberry and Apple Crumble for tea – just scrumptious, especially with cinnamon and oats added to the crumble mix. Every Autumn since I was a little girl we have picked blackberries from the lanes and my Mum made just the best Blackberry and Apple Crumble. Every family gathering sees some B&A Crumble on the table!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Frame 2

I was amused to catch a mother catching her son framed in a window of Wheal Coates, an old engine house on the cliffs at Chapel Porth, Cornwall.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Frame

We were in St Euny Graveyard this morning doing a bit more research for our Perthi Kov Project when I remembered this week’s challenge and saw an opportunity to frame Carn Brea Castle and the Basset Monument atop Carn Brea through the holes in a memorial shaped as a Cornish Cross.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Fun!

It has been great fun knitting this little cardigan with multi-coloured yarn and seeing how the stripes appear. It is fun too to imagine one of our expected twin Grand-babies wearing it. Now to get on with finishing off its pair, in the same yarn but turning out quite different which is also fun. This cardigan, like the others I am knitting has little mother-of-pearl buttons from the babies’ Great Great Grandfather, buttons on cards which I have inherited and treasured from my Grandad’s days as a button salesman. So, the buttons, being over 100 years old, are antiques!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Cherry On Top

The Cherry On Top this week was going for a walk after the rain finally stopped and finding some beautiful raindrops caught in webs and on leaves. Click on any photo to see the reflections in the drops and to appreciate the strings of diamonds on the webs in the grass.  For others in this Challenge click this link.

Grasshopper, Alstroemeria and Chaffinch

This week’s Photo Challenge is Detail which suits me very well. Here are today’s three beautiful things in close up, showing detail. First a Field Grasshopper. I love his armour plating.

Alstroemeria light up in the sunshine and have beautiful markings.

This young bird has a crest as he flies in and lands but would not stay still enough for me to catch it.  His youth shows in the fluffy detail around the edges.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Look Up

We were in London at the end of June and I took this photo looking up at Big Ben.  The detail took my breath away.
