Summer Sun, Summer Sounds and Summer Shadows

07 Jul

Summer has finally arrived in Cornwall and we have had a very lazy day enjoying the warmth and the summer sounds – the murmuration of bees, the scratching of magpies’ claws as they walk up the roof tiles next door and, this evening, the soughing of the waves on the shore.

Your intricate shots of the bee and the beetle were my favorites. Although some beetles are hazardous to plants, this one looked benign… here’s hoping so!

Also, the shot of the beach took me back to my visit to my sisters-in-law last year in Sacramento. We spent three glorious days in a rented cabin (cabin? It had satellite cable and a full kitchen, but that’s what they called it!). We walked on the beach a lot… Your photo gave me a remembered scent of the sea air, the salt that hung heavy on our hair. Glorious. Thanks, Amy

Long may it all last! With rain at night, ideally!

I agree! When it was hot like this when we were kids we often had thunderstorms at night. 🙂

I especially like the red legged fellow on the thistle. We’ve seen some unfamiliar flora and fauna on vacation in Alberta, CA.

Mostly my Canon S100; sometimes my FujiX10 but the macro isn’t as good on that one and I love macro! 🙂

It seems wholly appropriate that there is a bench in honor of the ice cream man.

I agree! We’d never taken this path before so finding the bench was such a pleasure. I love the little carvings of ice-creams! 🙂
