St Piran’s Day, Choir Baby and A Pasty

Today after choir, we sang Harry Glasson’s Cornwall My Home in the courtyard to celebrate St Piran’s Day Here it is now, especially  for my sister in Hawaii.

We have another Choir-Baby after many years of none and we are all delighted to have one year old S with us and clearly enjoying the singing.

We had pasties for lunch to mark the day but I was enjoying it so much I forgot to take a photo until it was almost all gone.

It’s also World Book Day so happy days to all you readers and to all those who have dressed up for the day, especially LiveWire 3 who at almost 15 years old has gone to school as a very beautiful and tortured Lady Macbeth.

Dawn, Window and Politics

Peachy dawns are a delight.I really need to go to see this charming stained glass window in Ladock Church.  The words are from Harry Glasson’s song, ‘Cornwall My Home’ which my choirs sing and which is almost a Cornish anthem. It was sung at the Baby Naming I did recently to welcome the little boy into his Cornish community.

Martha Gelhorn  sums politics up so well here. What a woman she was! You can read about her here.

Lunchtime Concert, Rose Window and My Scarf

What a lovely concert in the beautiful Truro Cathedral this lunchtime!  Here is one of our songs which I hope you will enjoy. It is ‘This is My Cornwall’ by Harry Glasson and is almost our Cornish anthem! Thank you to the lovely Mr S for the recording.

We were looking down the cathedral towards the Rose window and at one point the sun came through though I didn’t catch it then as we were singing! The photo was taken as we were leaving.

You will have seen that we all wear black with some splashes of red for our choir performances. This scarf is my new accessory for performances. I bought it specially for the wedding of one of our members for when we sang at her wedding in December and I love it!

Cornwall, Wasp Beetle and Seed Planting

1   I grew up in Cornwall, UK and live here now. Here is a video to show all my readers what a beautiful place it is accompanied by a wonderful song written by Harry Glasson.

2   We found a beautiful beetle on the wall in the sunroom today and I have just discovered that it is a Wasp Beetle.  It is quite harmless and mimics a wasp to keep predators away.

3   I have been thinking about my friend Shelagh this afternoon while I have been in the sunshine, planting flower seeds in a ‘cutting’ bed. There are Nigella and various colours of Cornflowers. Shelagh lives in Vermont, USA, and they have had two more inches of snow today and the snow ploughs have been out. I have sent her some warm Spring vibes across the ether and if you are somewhere where winter still rules, feel free to share them. We have lots to go around!  The film about Cornwall, your home too, is for you as well Shelagh.
