Friendship Matters

I missed choir this morning but my lovely choir friends were thinking of us, one with a photo of the Penryn River and one with a recording of The Suitcase Singers singing one of my favourite songs, Harbour by Anna Tabbush.

Thanks, J, for this photo

Thank you S for this recording, very much appreciated.

Singing, The River and Reflections

I went to choir this morning and loved every moment. Singing is so good for us! Here we are singing Pachabelle’s Canon, a version I learned at a workshop at WOMAD several years ago. I was given permission by our lovely leader to sing all the parts (as I used to do before Covid) so if you look carefully, you’ll see me on the move as each new part joins in. Thank you to Sue for recording this today.

This is the view from our rehearsal room. Aren’t we so very lucky?!  (And there’s an interrobang for you!)

Early on in the mist and later across the river…..

Kindness, Crochet and A Song

It’s been a day of kindnesses and all have been greatly appreciated.
In the post today came a couple of cards full of love and one containing more sea glass from my blogging friend Judith as well as a beautiful butterfly that she has made for me. Thank you, J.

Then from my blogging friend, Nancy, the following which I love.

And, just now, by email, a song, “This Love Will Carry.” I was unable to go to choir today as I was to have my stitches out. As it turned out, the wound was not quite ready so I have to return on Wednesday. This song was recorded for me and the others who were unable to be there and who were missed. Do click on the link and listen to my beautiful choir.
Another friend brought us the eggs that I normally collect from other friends at rehearsal.
I am quite overwhelmed with the love and kindnesses  washing around me.

P.S. Thank you for all the comments too. I’ll get to them tomorrow xx

Yutori and Kokoleoko

This is what I am needing right now.

I thought you might like to hear my choir singing Kokoleoko but then I found an even more beautiful interpretation of the Liberian folk song. I really love this.

Guest Blogger

Hi everyone! I’m back and glad! This was our last full day in Cornwall but it has been, of course ,wonderful so far. Today, I went to Choir with Granny and was probably one of the best ones I’ve been to. Everybody is always so nice and welcoming and loves to help me during songs I don’t know. My favourite song was a Liberian song where we sang Cockadoodledoo in Liberian so if I ever want to go to Liberia, I can say Cockadoodledoo!
(I’ve tried to add an MP4 here but it’s not working – yet)

The day was foggy and murky yet seeing the ship wrecks on the mud was like a scarecrow in a field of daisies.

Later on, we went to Porthtowan for what was meant to be a fleeting encounter with the waves and pebbles but we got caught up and forgot time was running and stayed there for almost an hour stepping over stones and finding lettered pebbles.

Cathedral, Automata and Boogie Woogie Stomp

I love this particular view of Truro Cathedral, looking down the curve of the lovely Walsingham Place.

I had heard that there was an exhibition of automata in Truro Museum and we were not disappointed by the wonderfully crazy things on show. It’s well worth visiting if you are one of my readers in Cornwall.

I was watching a video of the lovely Angeline Morrison when this Boogie Woogie one came up next and I just had to share it. I just love how how everyone listening and watching has a smile on their face.  I hope it makes you smile too.

Primroses and The Best Music!

It is so lovely to see the primroses coming out in our front garden. They are my absolute favourites.

My brother, SIL and the lovely Mr S always say,”We had the best music!” and here is the proof.

Christmas – A Concert, A Poem and Our Tree

Tomorrow evening, both my choirs are singing in the ShelterBox Christmas concert and although, Dear Readers, you are all over the world, you can still join the festivities from the comfort of your own home by watching live at shelterbox.org/ChristmasConcert.   I hope you’ll be able to join us. If you do, please add a like or a comment tomorrow evening. We’d love to know where in the world the concert was watched.

The lovely poet, Brian Bilston, has very kindly said I can share another of his poems with you all. For me, it sums things up very well indeed – if only we still had a cat.  We have tickets for his gig in Falmouth next May!Our tree is covered in angels. They have been bought over many years and all around the world where we have visited. (Still need to go to Vietnam, Cambodia and Australia!) There are angels from Warsaw, Volcano in Hawaii, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Denver and Seattle, from Munich, Salzburg, Sheffield and Truro, from Mapoch in South Africa, Nepal and more! The fluffy ones were my Mum’s.

Christmas Carols and Glass Angels

Yesterday my choir, The Ingleheart Singers, sang Christmas Carols to entertain the visitors to the Eco Park Christmas Market. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon despite the rain and today, our leader sent us the following photo and some wonderful  comments that have pleased us all.

I was there but I’m behind our esteemed leader!

Eco Park: “Thank you so much for the wonderful singing. I’ve come here from Germany to stay with my daughter for Christmas.  Your choir just opened my heart”
“As I walked towards the market, it looked so atmospheric and beautiful with the lights and everything, then I heard this incredible singing and saw you all in your reds stood there, it really was the cherry on the cake!  It was the best Christmas singing I’ve ever heard in my life!”
Chef from the cafe: “You must be very pleased with yourselves, I’ve just had some people come in and say they were moved to tears by the singing.”

I’m working hard to get my last few angels finished. I’m incorporating more of the sea glass I have been given.  Here are the last few in various stages of being done.

Thanks to Judith for the sea glass xx
