Day 4 of Golden Wedding Week

Lappa Valley was our destination today as this was a family favourite from the days, thirty years ago,  when we all used to visit my Mum and Dad in the summertime and three generations loved the mini steam train ride and the picnic at the end of the journey. Today, three generations again had fun and a fine picnic and a play and a paddle in the natural pond dammed up for the purpose. Click on any photo in the gallery to join us in our fun-packed day.

Day 3 of Golden Wedding Week

This morning I made two Picnic Pies for tomorrow and some crumble topping for this evening and then we went out to the farm to have some time just with the Barcelona babies and their parents and with our eldest and her daughter while all the other children went back down the lane to the beach for more adventures.  On their way back they picked two buckets worth of blackberries for the Blackberry and Apple Crumble.

LiveWire 2 is a natural with his baby cousins and they are loving him and his attention.

J&MLiveWires 2 and 5

Just before dinner tonight, we were presented with the ‘first’ of our presents from them all – fabulous T-shirts printed with the family portrait that we had made almost two years ago to give to each family. As a very special surprise KJ had been in touch with Kate from Cornish Bird in the Sticks and she added our Grandbaby twins to the family portrait! What a totally fabulous thing to do for us. We were quite overcome…..  Every member of the family now has a commemorative T-shirt.

Day 2 of Golden Wedding Week

After shopping for provisions in Redruth town, all four families are now in their accommodation at Trengove Farm and all is well! We had a brilliant walk down into Portreath, through woods and past a stream where the LiveWires became adventurers and it took us nearly an hour to do a fifteen minute walk!  Beach time came next and then on our return, supper all together in the 10 person place, HellFire Jack’s, a converted barn. Click on any photo in the Gallery to join in the fun.

More Onondaga Thanks, A Gift and Imminent Arrival

Lovely friends left us a beautiful bunch of Sweet Peas in the porch and they filled the space with that very special scent that they have. Thank you D&R.

The first contingent of family should be here within the hour. They were expected at 6pm but first the plane from Barcelona was delayed and since then traffic has been a problem. Not long to wait now………

Pressed Flowers and Thanks

I am making an Early Days memory board for our Golden Wedding celebrations next week.  Among my treasures are some flowers that I collected and pressed while on our Honeymoon in St Ives. They have kept their colour remarkably well for 50 years!

Fuchsia and Rose of Sharon

I promised you more of the Onondaga Nation Thanksgiving words.

Granny Square Day, Woodpecker and Chicken Pie

Today is National Granny Square Day so I would like to show you some Granny squares made by my Granny and made into a blanket by my daughter for her daughter. LiveWire 4 has a blanket made by her Mum and her Great Great Granny! Please look at this earlier post as I cannot move the photos to here.

We have had the Woodpecker back feeding here again.

The first contingent of family arrive on Thursday  for our ten day long Golden Wedding Celebrations and today I have made the pie filling for Chicken, Potato and Asparagus Pie.

Onondaga Nation, Tomatoes and Sand Dollar Earrings

In The Heard Museum in Phoenix last year, I found a beautiful 53″ long wall hanging entitled “Greetings and Thanks to the Natural World, a daily thanksgiving inspired by the Onondaga Nation, Haudenosaunee’. I’ll show you a piece a day for the next ten days.

A Daily Thanksgiving inspired by the Onondaga Nation

Special thanks today go to three of my friends with whom I sing for a lovely hardworking afternoon and to J for a share in his wonderful tomato crop.

Still sorting! Today I came across such a little treasure in a box of forgotten earrings. I have shown you Sand Dollars before but these are tiny and so perfect and I have never worn them. They measure just over 1cm in diameter. Click here and here to see earlier mentions.

I am loath to break one of my Sand Dollars to find the ‘five perfect doves’ mentioned but am very tempted. Watch this space!

The Bunch, Sweet Peas and New Clematis

Here is the beautiful bunch of brightness that our friends brought yesterday.

The beautiful Bunch

Our Sweet Peas are just about finished which is very disappointing and much earlier than last year. We have picked all the ones from the very top and dug the rest up!

Last of our Sweet Peas

We will replace them with Clematis that will come back year after year rather than us having to plant each year – labour saving ploy and finding the best in the situation as is my wont. We have bought  two purple and two white ones, the names of which I have forgotten for the moment. I’ll look at the labels tomorrow.

Clematis

Today I hit 2,000 Followers! Thank you one and all. 🙂

The Gift of a Flower

We’ve had a delightful time with friends this evening and this beautiful bloom was in the flowers they brought for us.

One of the bunch
