A lantern parade, Christmas carols, another outing for our special Story-coat, crowds of jolly people and then the switch on – a splendid evening for Redruth.

Breakfast with friends followed by pretty painful but wonderful steroid injections in my ankles – wonderful because, if they work like previous ones, I should be pain-free for the next 4-6 months! The staff at St Michael’s in Hayle are so lovely, kind and caring.
After that, and walking on air, I have just been a part of my choir’s first concert for Christmas which was brilliant. I was too busy singing to take photos. I’ll hope to add photos from others later.
Happy Thanksgiving to those we love in America – our family – my brother and SIL, my sister, nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces and friends, those we know and love and all my blogging friends
We always mark the day with a nod to Thanksgiving dinner. We just once had a proper one in Atlanta with family and it was lovely. Tonight we’ve had turkey steaks with sweet potato fries and baby onions in a white sauce – delicious!
I also made a mini Pecan Pie, absolutely scrumptious!
On our walk around today, we spotted a pristine feather that must have been lost very recently.
Although I had made a cake for Roots today, I didn’t go, as I suddenly had an urge to get back to my glasswork which until today I haven’t been able to get on with. I made a start, cutting and foiling an angel. I now have to decide which decoration to put on and then solder the pieces together.
My lovely Mr S enjoyed his slice of cake with cream and cinnamon maple apple chunks.
The wind died down so we went for a stomp in the rain. The leaves in the puddles are so much brighter when wet.
I’m not sure what the red bits that come off pine trees are called but here are lots that were blown off in the storm.
Just love the curly noodles ready for combining with Spicy Pork and Peanut sauce, a tasty recipe from Jon Watts’ book, Speedy Weeknight Meals.
The hoolies arrived overnight, crazy winds and heavy rain so we dashed into town to pick up our bread and called in at The Buttermarket for a coffee.
I love the little plants in tea-cups on the tables and windowsills.
Kris Meaden, a very talented local photographer, whose photos I have used before, has kindly given me permission to show this one too. Just look at these waves in Penzance and the debris in them! I hope no-one was walking on the prom this morning.
This little daisy in the moss and little green leaves, lit up when the sun came out today.
Driving through Hayle today, I just managed to get a photo of this colourful terrace.
We had a delicious lunch, Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup with a cheese scone, at the cafe at Godrevy today with the most glorious view over to St Ives.

Once upon a time, a very long time when I was maybe eleven years old, I cycled from Truro to Perranporth, about 10 miles. Sadly, I hadn’t realised how hot it was, had forgotten to take water with me so stopped at a farmhouse on the way to ask, very nicely as I was a well brought up child, if I could please have a drink of water. “No, clear off! ” was the response and I have never forgotten that moment. Today it’s a smart looking place that looks rather like a hotel.
We lived in and around Perranporth for several years and today was a bit of a memory-jogger. I loved the beach and still do.
One summer, when I was seven, we lived in the ground floor flat of a lovely big house, one of the terrace at the top to the left of the picture.
Another summer, we spent in a caravan and a tent on the Liskey Hill campsite and I loved every moment.
