The hoolies arrived overnight, crazy winds and heavy rain so we dashed into town to pick up our bread and called in at The Buttermarket for a coffee.
I love the little plants in tea-cups on the tables and windowsills.
Kris Meaden, a very talented local photographer, whose photos I have used before, has kindly given me permission to show this one too. Just look at these waves in Penzance and the debris in them! I hope no-one was walking on the prom this morning.

I wish we’d been able to get out to see them but couldn’t today. I do love crazy waves! 🙂

Phew! Those are some big waves. I think we are just a tad too far inland up here in Jo’burg to worry about such things affecting us.
“Hoolies” ? ( hooligans?)

Hoolies = wild windy, wet weather, storms. We didn’t use this term when we lived in Yorkshire so I’m thinking it’s a Cornish term, not Cornish language, just used here. 🙂

Raw rage at Penzance. Makes for a dramatic photograph. Not sure if your experience across the pond is the same as ours, but living next to the ocean comes a lot more wind, tidal surges, over the last three years. Gale force winds here today as well.
Buttermarket and Annapolis Royal twins in the rain today.

Hope you stayed safe in your gales. Since that one we’ve had an even bigger storm, huge tides and lots of damage around. We were lucky, though I would have liked to have seen the crazy seas. I shall have to look up Annapolis Royal 😊
