There was snow in much of the UK today but not here in Cornwall. We just had extremely heavy rain but that didn’t put off some hardy volunteers from harvesting the last of the carrots. Photos by M – thank you. I worked in the poly tunnel helping to pot on the baby Echium plants. 
Raindrops do leave pretty jewels on leaves.

I thought I would show you one of my favourite pieces today, a kinetic sculpture made by a local artist, Esther Smith. When the handle is turned, the hares race around inside the grove of trees. I love it. 
There was a break in the clouds, the sun came out and we dropped everything and went to Godrevy to stroll along the cliffs.
In the car park there is a sign I haven’t noticed before, The 10 Commandments for Surfers.
Along the walk back there were many spots of colour – here a dandelion, a bramble flower and some not quite ripe blackberries. 
The tree I’ve been photographing for the last few weeks has almost lost its leaves.
We had a new squirrel visiting today, really fearless as it came very close to the kitchen and stayed when I went out to take its photo.
I love our Amangowa Cherry tree, full of blossom in the Spring and glorious colour in the Autumn.
We have eaten at the Buttermarket this evening along with many others, including our very approachable local MP, Perran Moon, with whom I had a very interesting chat. The place was buzzing inside and out with everyone enjoying delicious food from one of the six kitchens. It’s a remarkable transformation as the two BBC photos show and we are very pleased to have been among the volunteers who helped clear the space prior to the builders moving in. 
There’s a beautiful full moon tonight with a very pretty halo.
The trees across the river are turning more autumnal but in our garden the hydrangea has two beautiful blooms.
Today was one of those gloriously cold, crisp and sunny Autumn days so we went off to Truro for our first trip in 6 weeks. It was a fabulous day! I do love Truro, the city where I grew up. Here are three views of the Cathedral as we went about our wander.

The low sun coming through the kitchen window at breakfast this morning, lit up one of my favourite mugs on the dresser and cast a very clear shadow.
I made another new cake for Roots’ volunteers, Apple and Almond cake. It turned out really well with one young volunteer saying it was the best cake he had ever eaten! I’ll make it again!
There were some beautiful raindrops as I walked about the farm this morning, collecting lavender for cuttings and loving everything I could see. 
Really happy that I have been given permission to share one of Kim Ridgeon’s poem with you. I love his quiet take on the natural world, his careful observations and his positivity .
In our garden, it was the primrose buds that surprised me, uncovered when I shifted some fallen leaves.
Just one Nasturtium flower, one with a rather startled face!
A good friend has sent a photo of a beautifully crafted post box topper made to mark Remembrance Day. It’s another lovely piece of creativity and I am delighted to see that there is a Land Girl being honoured here too.
Sometimes at Roots, there are too many seedlings so when they have all been planted to fill their spaces, some are left over and we are invited to give them a home. I brought home a selection last Tuesday and today, in glorious sunshine (the anticyclonic gloom has left Cornwall) I planted them out. At Roots they’ve been planted in poly tunnels and so they may not survive in our garden though I have put plastic covers over them to look after them the best I can.
We wear white poppies that we get from The Peace Pledge Union which promotes peace. The white poppy commemorates all people who died in conflict, soldiers and civilians, and focuses on achieving peace and challenging the way we look at war.
