Agapanthus and Protest Boards

We saw these beautiful Agapanthus flowers as we left the hospital on Saturday.

A friend and I popped down to Porthtowan after working at Community Roots this morning and were very impressed by the fifteen  wonderful protest boards which tell such a story. I took a few photos to show you detail and have the first photo from a friend of the whole length of them along the path to the beach. I’ll post them all in sequence at some point when my lovely Mr S and I can  go down to the beach together.

Thanks John.

Pride, Patches and A Challenge

After days and days of sunshine, today was properly damp which was brilliant for the garden but sad for Market Day and the Pride Party in the Park.  We did our usual Saturday foray into town for fruit, veg, coffee in our favourite coffee shop and a laugh with Make A Mends.

Pride bunting in the wind and rain. On a sunny day this courtyard is buzzing.

I donated a pretty top that I no longer wear to Make A Mends and they, in their inimitable fashion, have made it even prettier.

We met a lovely couple in HomeGround coffee shop, Heidi and Pete, who were at the start of their Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride. Should they read this, we wish them all the best on this adventure.

The lovely couple we met today at the start of their amazing cycle ride.

Rag Rug, Lunch and Sunset

I met a good friend in town today and introduced her to  Make A Mends where there was a beautiful handmade rag rug. We each bought something too.

We had a delicious focaccia lunch in the Buttermarket and loved the pansies on our table in the sun.

Tonight’s sunset, seen from the cliff tops at St Agnes, was glorious.

A Tree, A Cardigan and A Jacket

In town today, the trees in Fore Street are turning golden as Autumn takes them.

In Make A Mends today were two items that I covet! The cardigan I have to go back and try on. I just love the poem on the back!

I love the embroidery on the jacket but the sleeves were too short for me. I did try this one on but reluctantly left it behind for someone else to buy and love.

St Piran’s Day and The StoryCoat

Yesterday, we were told – “Tomorrow ,Redruth’s young Town Crier, Max Morrison, will wear his new Storycoat for the first time, as part of the town celebrations for St Piran’s Day.
Ten artists have so far contributed to the coat – hand-dyeing the fabric with natural dyes fixed with tin and copper, handcrafting traditional woven buttons, embroidering story patches, collecting peoples’ images for the digitally printed lining and constructing the coat itself. More hands will work on it in the future, adding stories as the years go by.
You can see elements of the artwork here, but if you want to see Max and the new coat in all its glory, you’ll need to come to the Miner’s statue by the clock tower in Redruth for 10.00am.”

So, of course, today we went to see Max in the big reveal of the new Storycoat.

Each patch illustrates something of Redruth’s history and Max will be telling the stories at the various events when it will be on show.  They are all remarkably beautiful.  My patch will soon be finished and will be on the coat for its next outing for Murdoch Day, June 15th.

Street Music, Christmas Wreath and Patches

It was fun to hear this band while shopping this morning.

This afternoon I raided the garden for greenery and made our Christmas wreath for the front door.

While in town, I took my favourite cashmere cardigan into Make-A-Mends to see if they could do anything about the holes in the elbows. I love this rich blue and beautifully warm cardigan and didn’t want to lose it. Within 3 hours rather than several days, I had a message to go and collect it and I LOVE it! Mend and save! My cardigan now has extra added value and extra lovely colour.

Thank you Sarah of Make-A-Mends, fabulous job!

Shopping, Exhibition and A Poem

It wasn’t until I unpacked the shopping from our local greengrocer when we got home that I saw, with delight, the tangerines that the lovely Mr S had picked up. I think the youngsters at GrowBox had some fun this morning. Well done and thank you!

After a busy week we managed to get to Kresen Kernow to see the International Day of Repair exhibition where my pieces of Kintsugi can be seen.

This poem needs no words from me.

It’s a full moon tonight, Hunter’s Moon,  and regular readers will know how I love the moon. Sadly, there is too much cloud so I have also missed the partial eclipse that happened this evening. I hope some of you managed to see it.
