Spring Rabbits, Daisy and Pleasing Purchase

1   The rabbits in the field behind our house are getting very frisky despite the minus temperatures.

2   Hiding under the Pittisporum hedge was this beautiful, delicately pinked daisy, just waiting for some sunshine to encourage it to open up. A Macro Monday photo, you can see the hairiness of the calyx in this close up – lovely.

3    Having gone into town to post T’s card for her 2nd birthday, I couldn’t resist checking out the charity shops for some bright red shoes for our next gig on Friday. I didn’t find any shoes but did find these delightful little egg-cups which will be perfect for the Grandbabies’ boiled eggs at Easter.

Sea, Stoat and Sally-Boots

1   From our bedroom this morning, we could see that the sea on the North coast was very rough, white horses all along the horizon so we went down to Chapelporth to feel the wildness of the ocean and the wind, the roar of the waves crashing onto the rock and tried to take photos while being buffeted by the very fierce gusts.

2   On the way home I saw a beautiful creature running across a drive. I identified it when we arrived home and it was a stoat. No chance of a photo but I found this one on a BBC site.

3   I posted some Sally-Boots to a young friend who had her baby girl four weeks early a few days ago. Happily, she’s doing well.  As I was packing them up, I realised where the colour scheme had come from – the orchids that were part of Mr S’s birthday present.

Baby Elephant, New Scarf and Cornish Shout

1  For those of you who love elephants, as I do, here’s a link to a beautiful episode in the lives of some elephants.

2   I’ve finished J’s scarf, made up of scraps of wool from many of the things I’ve knitted for him in his almost four years.

3    Christmas singing at The Countryman in Piece – a spirit lifter if ever there was one!  They call it a Shout when it’s singing in the pub and but it isn’t shouting , it is singing!

Motorbike, Dogs and Lichen

1 I see this wonderful old motorbike most weeks on my way home from my piano lesson (Some progress being made there!) The owner was very happy for me to take its photo.

2 The owner of the dogs was happy too as I asked to take the photo of these two in their beautiful wooly jackets.

3 On our walk around the back on The Great Flat Lode Mr S drew my attention to this very beautiful combination of greeny grey lichen and the seed heads of the montbretia.

Molehills, First Cornish Daffodils and Grand-Baby T Talking

1   This morning at choir a friend told us about the moles in their garden, such beautiful little creatures, velvety smooth with little pink noses. When I asked if they didn’t do damage in the garden, G said that, no, they work together. The moles make the mole hills and he collects the wonderful finely worked soil that results and puts it in the polytunnel. Now that’s what I call working with Nature – just beautiful!

I don’t have a photo of a mole so will just share this lovely one of our choir leader, Claire and one of our delightful Choir-babies, T.

T, one of our Choir-babies, enjoying the session. We are all enjoying watching him grow up.

2   The lovely Mr S bought me my first Cornish daffodils of the season. We have some in bud in the garden but they aren’t quite ready yet.

3    I had a lovely conversation with KJ tonight who tells me that suddenly Grand-baby T’s talking is taking off and she is repeating everything said to her and beginning to make jokes with words. I just love the magic of a child learning to talk!

Lovers’ Lane, Evening Sky and Green (Weekly photo challenge) and a P.S.

1   Just down the road from us is a path we can take to town, called Lovers’ Lane. That name pleases me.

2 A beautiful sky tonight.

3   There are so many beautiful shades of green and so many beautiful names for those colours – jade, turquoise, chartreuse, emerald, aquamarine, beryl, pea, olive, malachite, moss, and lime….

P.S. I don’t comment on news, politics or religion in this blog (and those who know me know that in real life I do that all the time!) but tonight I just want to say how my heart goes out to all those Egyptian families who have lost a child or maybe more than one in that terrible coach/train accident. I don’t have many readers of my blog in Egypt but I want to send love from one parent to another, to send love and strength for coping with this, to just tell you how my heart aches for you all.

Elephant Safari, Rhinoceros and Nepalese Flowers (Weekly photo challenge-foreign)28th October

1. Up before dawn again and up onto the back of an elephant, through mist covered fields and spiders’ webs to the jungle – a magical experience, the dawn sunlight catching the trees and some spotted deer, some hug deer, peacocks in the trees, a jackal and then…..

2. A rhinoceros and so close!

3. There are some beautiful flowers at Chitwan. I don’t know their names.

Just look at how beautiful the ear of my elephant is.

White Glow, Winter Coat and “You can shed tears..”

1   I love the white flowers in our garden at this time of year as the sunlight is lower and they gain a kind of glow which is very beautiful.

2   The nights are becoming noticeably colder and one of ‘our’ beautiful horses has been given his winter coat already.

3   This very beautiful poem by David Harkins, poet and painter, was read at Monday’s funeral for a very special lady. We both found the words very touching.

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

It’s a poem I shall be putting into my ‘When I’ve gone’ drawer.

Just a little extra – Linda identified yesterday’s flower for me. Thank you so much. Fascinating info to be found here   http://www.strangewonderfulthings.com/181.htm

Guest Post, Horses Having Fun and Raindrops

1   I am thrilled today to have had my Guest Post published on Choc Chip Uru’s blog. I have also posted the recipe for Chocolate Amaretti Torte, which is delicious, on my recipe pages too.

2   The horses were having fun rolling around this morning before the rain started.

3   I love the way the raindrops here have collected in a line down the middle.
