Singing, Penguins and Chocolate Torte

A week ago, just 15 of us gathered at the Eco Park to sing Cornish Christmas carols in a safe and socially distanced way. Enjoy listening to us. For this who wanted to know, I’m right at the end singing “Thy beloved name!”  I’m elsewhere too so you can watch again from the start if you like, even perhaps contribute to one of our charities. Nadelik Lowen is Happy Christmas in Cornish.

Photographer Tobias Baumgaertner captured this image of two widowed fairy penguins looking over the Melbourne skyline. It has won an award in Oceanographic magazine’s Ocean Photography Awards 2020.
The backstory is so heartwarming. The lighter penguin is an elderly female whose partner died this year. The darker one is a younger male who lost his partner two years ago. Biologists have followed them as they meet every night to comfort each other. They stand for hours together watching the city lights.

I made our Chocolate Amaretti Torte this afternoon, one for us and one for our daughter who is visiting for an outdoor pasty lunch tomorrow, looking forward to eating it soon!

P.S.  We saw the Great Conjunction tonight for a  few moments when the clouds parted!

Guest Post, Horses Having Fun and Raindrops

1   I am thrilled today to have had my Guest Post published on Choc Chip Uru’s blog. I have also posted the recipe for Chocolate Amaretti Torte, which is delicious, on my recipe pages too.

2   The horses were having fun rolling around this morning before the rain started.

3   I love the way the raindrops here have collected in a line down the middle.

Another Fairy, Chocolate Amaretti Torte and a Gift

1   Samantha Bryan, sculptor and imagineer, has put out a call to reunite all her beautiful fairies, if only virtually. She has asked any owners to photograph them and send in the photos. Here is one of mine that I love with her little birthday candle to light her way when she’s out in the dark.

2   Today I have made the Chocolate Amaretti Torte for the reunion and for my guest posting with Go Bake Yoursel  I can’t turn out the one I made today until the party so here’s one I made earlier for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday party. It is so smooth and rich and scrumptious!

Here’s one I made earlier!

3   Knowing how I love to knit, and to knit wacky things as well as beautiful things, my lovely next-door-neighbour gave me this book today. Thank you! Watch this space!

For those of my readers who like my recipes, I have today put KJ’s fabulous Lime and Ginger Cheesecake up on the Recipe pages. Do comment there if you try it. I’d love to know how you get on with it!
