A Visit, Magpies and The Mystery Object

1   We had a lovely visit to friends today, meeting their lovely young dog, Kaja, whose first birthday it is today.

3   The mystery object that I showed you here turn out to be Bicycle clips as evidenced in the newspaper cutting of June 23rd 2001.  I can’t help thinking they would soon put holes in the fabric as they are very sharp. I can’t help feeling that Marilyn is more likely right and they are callipers used for measuring – must be tiny measurements indeed.  Click on the photo to see it more clearly. When we bought the little object, the man who sold them to us also gave us this newspaper cutting.

Drawing, Baby Rabbit and A Horse

1   I saw this the other day and thought, how perfect!

The world is pretty....

2   This morning we spotted a baby rabbit in the garden. Baby rabbits are called kits I learned recently. Fortunately, he was eating the dock leaves and not my flowers!

3   I love it when the horses in the back field come right down to our wall and I can hear them munching and neighing and whinnying together.

Coastal Walk, Cow Parsley and a Cat

1   Another warm and sunny day for a walk along a short stretch of the Cornish coastal path – masses of wild flowers, a pair of Cornish Choughs, some blue butterflies, some llamas, the most beautiful seas and nothing but bird song and the songs of the waves and ozone filling our lungs – a fabulous feast for the senses.

3   Almost back in St Just we came across a rather splendid ginger cat.

This post is in memory of my Mum who died 20 years ago today. Her love and wisdom are always with me. She loved the Cornish coasts, taught me about wild flowers, loved cats and was, quietly, a force to be reckoned with!

A Lurcher, A Woodland Walk and Sea Views

1    Friends have recently adopted a wonderful dog whose owner is off to Australia so couldn’t keep him. He’s a Lurcher and is one of the sweetest and best behaved dogs I have ever met. I’m not really a dog lover, having been seriously frightened as a child, but Duke is just delightful!

2    Our friends have a delightful cottage just by Tehidy Woods and we spent a lovely sunny afternoon walking and talking our way through the woods up to the coast and round again. Click on any photo for an enlargement.

3   The sea was many beautiful hues of blue in the sunshine.

All in all, it was a beautiful day in every way: sunshine, wonderful natural beauty, exercise and being with good friends – what more could one ask? And, I almost forgot, a delicious Cornish cream tea before our walk and a fabulous meal afterwards!

Reflection, A Black Labrador and Woodland Swing

1. We spent all afternoon in the West Family Woods delighting in the bird song, the flowers, the variety of trees and being with the family. The stream that runs through the woods is very beautiful and home to many tadpoles. (See my Weekly photo challenge)

2 The family have five lovely Black Labradors. The photo is of Willow, the oldest of the five, sister of one and mother of another. Having been bitten twice by strange dogs as a child, I’m somewhat wary of being around dogs but these are all beautiful and beautifully trained.

3. There’s a swing seat in the woods. I could have sat and rocked for hours taking in all the sounds, smells and tranquility of the woods.

Grand-Baby, Chicken Pie and Woodland Walk

1   Our beautiful Grand -Baby B is safely home after 13 days and we visited today. What a joy! The tiniest cardigan that I made will fit for just another couple of weeks!

2   We took lunch with us – a beautiful Chicken Pie which went down very well.

3   After lunch, we all had a walk in the lovely woodland that surrounds their home finding wild flowers, beautiful trees in bud and even a Red Deer in the distance. The others saw two Roe Deer but I only heard them crashing through the undergrowth.

Last Night’s Moon, Nest Building and A Miniature Horse

1   I was catching up with blogs late last night and discovered Alastair’s post about a pink moon. That made me realise that the moon was just past full. I looked out of the window to discover a beautiful big moon, low in the sky and almost full and so out I went to capture it if possible. I have no tripod so this is far from perfect but I love the way it shines through the foliage.

2   We saw this pair of Jackdaws yesterday. He was working so hard collecting for the nest while she sat there appearing to say, “Well, keep going! That’s not enough yet!”

"Is this enough?"

3   Working in the front garden this afternoon, we heard a soft neighing and looked up to see this tiny horse going by. The owner was very happy to hold him still so that I could take a photo and told us that his name was Boris.

Cornish Sky, Spring Greens and A Cheetah

1   The sky is the most beautiful blue today, cloudless and quite stunning.

2   Leaning against the tree trunk and looking up though the tree that is greening up with new growth was lovely and attracted a few odd looks in town this morning!

3   I posted a mother leopard with a cub up on a mound for this week’s Photo Challenge and found this lovely Cheetah as I was going through the photos of our trip to South Africa.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Up

We were coming back from a safari when the guide suddenly pointed out these two leopards, mother and cub up on a mound. We watched these beautiful animals for some time as the sun was going down.

Narcissi, Daisies and A Toad

3   I went across the road tonight for an hour or two with a few friends and coming home we saw this toad by the wall. I do hope he stays safe and doesn’t go out onto the road. You’ll have to look closely. I didn’t use the flash, just the guide light  but you can still see his beautiful markings.
