Lupin, Camellia and Living Well

1    They had just finished watering at the garden centre and the lupin leaves were holding onto the droplets as lupins are inclined to do.

3   I love these words and just though I’d share them with you!

“You’ve gotta’ dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.
(And speak from the heart to be heard.)”

They were spoken by William W. Purkey, a man who received many accolades for his outstanding teaching.  He used to end speeches with this poem. I wish I had known it when I was teaching – I would have followed his example and closed my classes with it too!

Tehidy Woods, Grape Hyacinths and Kanoko Pants

1  It was very atmospheric in Tehidy Woods last night.

3   I have finished the tiny little trousers for Grand-baby B – they are one of the most pleasing little things  I have made. They are called Kanoko pants because “Kanoko” is from Japanese term “Kanoko-ami” which means “seed(moss) stitches” and I have to thank Harumidori designs for the delightful and very easy pattern.

Weekly Photo Challenge -Up Again

Interesting challenge but found a variety of photos with different interpretations that please me. Yesterday’s regular post had a couple of ‘Up’ photos too.

Cornish Sky, Spring Greens and A Cheetah

1   The sky is the most beautiful blue today, cloudless and quite stunning.

2   Leaning against the tree trunk and looking up though the tree that is greening up with new growth was lovely and attracted a few odd looks in town this morning!

3   I posted a mother leopard with a cub up on a mound for this week’s Photo Challenge and found this lovely Cheetah as I was going through the photos of our trip to South Africa.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Up

We were coming back from a safari when the guide suddenly pointed out these two leopards, mother and cub up on a mound. We watched these beautiful animals for some time as the sun was going down.

White Daffodils, Clematis and Boston Ducklings

1   My Suffragette garden is full of white daffodils and tulips. The purple tulips are almost ready to bloom. I so hope they will flower before the white tulips have faded.

2   The new Clematis, ‘Early Sensation’, has a few flowers which are very pretty.

3    The baby ducklings in today’s post by Marilyn remind me of a beautiful little book my parents  bought when they were in Boston many years ago (and Boston is in all our  minds this week with such sadness.)  “Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey is about a policeman who stops the traffic so that the mother duck can take her ducklings across the road to the pond in the park, a beautiful story about a beautiful city to whose citizens we send condolences.

Another Reflection, Green Haze and Loe Beach

1   I am fascinated by reflections as you may have guessed. First thing this morning with the sun streaming in, the colours of the glass in the back door were reflected in the windows. I wish I understood how reflections work!

2   Driving through our lovely Cornish lanes to Penryn to choir for the first time in three weeks, the trees are developing that lovely haze of colour – greens, pale yellows and pinks – that mean Spring really is on the way.

3   We drove down to Loe Beach for the early evening sunshine. I just love being there, listening to the wavelets coming onto the shingle, finding tiny yellow shells and finding a very special sense of peace.

Reflection, Skeletons and More Daffodils

1    This delightful  lithograph hangs in the kitchen and today I caught the reflection of some of the garden in it.

3   We are very lucky in that we have a field behind our garden and a rogue group of daffodils has just appeared. fortunately the rabbits don’t seem interested in eating them!

Narcissi, Daisies and A Toad

1   More Narcissi are flowering. I wish I could remember the names of the varieties. If you recognise them, please tell me.

2   It’s been a beautifully sunny and warm day and the lawn is suddenly covered in Daisies.Daisies in the lawn

3   I went across the road tonight for an hour or two with a few friends and coming home we saw this toad by the wall. I do hope he stays safe and doesn’t go out onto the road. You’ll have to look closely. I didn’t use the flash, just the guide light  but you can still see his beautiful markings.
