It was a beautiful frosty and very bright morning and we headed off early for a walk at Godrevy. Catch the waves with us, see the fungi as we walk around the headland and watch the seals in the bay. Click on photos to see the dew drop detail.

October Adventure – Flora and Fauna
The colours of plants and creatures on Hawaii were stunningly beautiful, enhanced probably by the clear blue skies and sunshine. If you suffer from Scoliodentosaurophobia, a fear of lizards, I have put them all at the end so that you don’t have to scroll down that far and can miss them. The gallery at the end is not for lizard haters either. For the rest of you, I hope it’ll be fascinating!
Help with identifying any of them would be much welcomed.
Now for the Lizards/geckos.
I spent a fascinating few minutes watching the little gold dust day gecko, Phelsuma laticauda, changing its skin! Click on the first photo and scroll through to see the whole process and the detail of the skin and his tongue!
Light-balls, Fungi and Circles
1 Â As the nights are drawing in, the light balls looked lovely last night. Â The colour isn’t good here as these are not lurid at all but good earthy or sea colours. Â Thanks,M, for your help with them.x
2 Â Some splendid fungi are growing on our wood-pile.
3 Â What a lovely pattern there is when a Chestnut mushroom is sliced across.
Stairs, Woodland Treasures and Sky
1. It’s such a delight to see how Grandbaby B has grown and developed since Christmas. She just loves climbing the stairs. She will be one in about seven weeks.

2. The new house is in woodland and going for a lovely walk is just there on the doorstep. We found Blackthorn blossom, beautiful bark, fungi on tree trunks and pine cones.

3 The sky has been blue all day and the shafts of sunlight through the trees quite beautiful highlighting the catkins and the branches.
Fungi, Feather and Singing
1 Â I caught sight of these fungi in a neighbour’s drive on the walk up from town. I wonder which creature finds them so tasty. They seem to take quite big chunks.
2 Â Â I love the pink edge on this tiny and fluffy feather that was tangled up in the hedgerow.
3 Â A friend sent me this today and I have to agree with its sentiment.
Birthday Lunch, Oak Daisy and Fairy Circle
1. It’s L’s birthday next week and we took the family out for lunch to celebrate. Her choice of dessert was Chocolate Fudge Cake with Salted Caramel Ice-cream – with a candle!
2 T, a tree surgeon, found a beautiful piece of oak which he has sliced and made into a flower.
3. In T and L’s garden there are lots of mushrooms, almost a complete fairy circle which is delightful.
Logs, Fungi and Crocus (And The Gig)
1 Â My piano teacher had had to have a tree felled as it had been almost toppled by the wild weather. The logs looked so beautiful on her lawn so I asked if I could take a photo and I was given some to bring home!
2  The wet weather over the last four years has wreaked havoc with my potting-up table. Once upon a time, it was a beautiful coffee table made by an ex-boyfriend and given to us as a wedding present 47 years ago. It is still well loved but, truth be told, it is beginning to rot. However, these beautiful fungi and lichen are growing on it and I’m sure it will last at least another season. I’d love it to get to 50 years old!
3 Â I’d forgotten I’d planted these very delicately mauve and purple crocuses so their appearance has been a lovely surprise.
The Goodbye Gig last night was enormous fun. We sang the best we ever had; the cabaret acts were brilliant and we will have raised a goodly amount for Comic Relief but we won’t know exactly how much until singing next Thursday.
I try not to be a stats junkie but these today please me : 451 followers, 36,651 hits and read in 131 countries. Thank you all for taking the time to read my posts. Every visit pleases me!
Winter Walk Around Trelissick Gardens, Cook Books and A Gig
1  We thought of driving up to England to see the snow but decided instead to walk around Trelissick Gardens. The gallery which follows takes you on our walk. Click on any image to get a full screen photo.
2 Â I’ve been looking at my collection of Ambrose Heath cook books inherited from my Mum and with recipes that we still use. (See the Rhubarb one on my Recipe pages) Â Some of the books are illustrated with delightfully quirky Edward Borden woodcuts.
3 Â We’re off out tonight to a gig by The Old Tire Swingers. We’re told they are “another great bluegress act all the way from the U S of A Influenced by the Appalachian string bands as well as their own Central California country roots, they play a style that’s somewhere between old time, bluegrass, and country.”
Hawaiian Turtle, Clematis and Fungus
1  My dear sister, Daisy aka Deborah, posted a picture of this beautiful painting, her first done since she moved from Arizona to Hawaii. I so admire her talent. You can see another of her paintings here http://wp.me/p1Ypl6-X
2   We have successfully moved this clematis, Sweet Sensation, from the back garden to the new fence and trellis at the front.
I love the pale green in the centre of the white.
3 Â Â Clearing off my planting table I found this beautiful fungus, like a flower petal, so delicate and colourful! Click on the photo to see the feathery detail.
