We have five Hydrangeas in our front garden and love them all. I need to go out and find the labels – tomorrow!
These are for our dear friend Patti who loves Hydrangeas.
Regular readers will know that I love textiles and creativity and today we saw the most amazing exhibition of beautiful textile panels in the Cathedral. Threads Through Creation is a wonderful depiction of the story of the creation as told in the Bible. If you live anywhere nearby or the exhibition comes near you, do go to see it. I want to go again when I have more time. Here is a gallery to give you a flavour of this glorious work.
Jacqui Parkinson, the artist, has spent ten years on this work. Read about it all here.
The other piece we bid for at the Truro Museum auction was this beautiful rendition of The Nearly Home Trees. These trees grow just inside Devon and the copse stands high on the horizon. As people return home to Cornwall, the trees tell us that we are ‘nearly home.’ We have a lovely fused glass version too – and lots of photos taken from our moving car! This piece is on terracotta and is most unusual and really lovely. It was made by Simon Hall
The beautiful fox next door is now a “Flat pack fox’Â as one of the makers described it! The pieces are going to be galvanised and then they will go straight to Heligan to be re-assembled in its permanent home. The wood pieces are all numbered and bagged up ready for the re-make..
It’s the turn of the day Lilies in our garden and they are gorgeous.
We are picking raspberries every day at the allotment. I’ve frozen some and every other day we eat a bowlful!
After days and days of sunshine, today was properly damp which was brilliant for the garden but sad for Market Day and the Pride Party in the Park. We did our usual Saturday foray into town for fruit, veg, coffee in our favourite coffee shop and a laugh with Make A Mends.
I donated a pretty top that I no longer wear to Make A Mends and they, in their inimitable fashion, have made it even prettier.
We met a lovely couple in HomeGround coffee shop, Heidi and Pete, who were at the start of their Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride. Should they read this, we wish them all the best on this adventure.
I was picking the tops off the broad beans at the allotment this morning when I spotted a yellow ladybird. It might be a 22 spot but I can’t see enough spots to be sure. I was taking the tops off the beans to stop black-flies and to use tonight, stir fried quickly in garlic butter – delicious.
We harvested our first new potatoes today and had them for tea too, boiled with mint and then tossed in freshly minted salty butter – another treat for the taste buds.
The poppy that seeded itself continues to give us another flower or two each day.
Happy 4th July to all my readers in America. Our thoughts are with you.
Every time I pick a bunch of flowers in the garden to make up a posy, I think about our Dear Friend Ti as we used to take a posy whenever we visited her. Regular readers will remember Ti as our 105 year old friend who loved us sharing poems with her. We miss her, her sense of fun and her joyful disposition.

The butterfly that I couldn’t identify.
