If I am creating I am happy – be it food or knitting or sewing, writing or making photographs. As the picture shows, it is a way of life!
Today I made Granola for a few breakfasts – oats, seeds, almonds and agave syrup with fruit to be added at time of eating.
I have finished the Mei Tai Baby carrier and am delighted with it. It is sturdy and pretty and warm. I think I have found a baby to borrow to try it out on, photos in a day or two of it in use.
There has been a great deal of bird activity in the garden today though they flew away into the trees each time there was a hail shower. There were Goldfinches, Green Finches; a Robin; Blue Tits and Great Tits; Long Tail Tits and just one Nut-hatch. The day of The Big Bird Watch there wasn’t a bird in sight! It’s Pancake Day and we started with Savoury Pancakes stuffed with turkey in a tasty peppery sauce. Later this evening we will have our Crêpes Suzettes which we love!

The beautiful Mud Maid in The Lost Gardens of Heligan, near Mevagissey in Cornwall, has been there for a long time already and will be there for a very long time to come. She is the work of Cornish sculptors Sue Hill and Pete Hill and is a favourite for our Grandchildren to visit. They love the Giant too. For others in this Challenge, click this link.

It certainly was a bracing afternoon as we walked around St Euny Churchyard this afternoon. Come for a walk with us and imagine the wind of Storm Imogen howling through the trees and between the stones. It is fascinating to see how the Cornish miners of tin and copper, who went all over the world to share their skills, to Mexico and America and Cuba, came home to Cornwall. It has been another wild day today though with less rain but it was definitely an indoors day so I made a bit more progress with my Mai Tei baby carrier. I had had hopes of making several but I’ve spent at least 6 hours on this one so far. Perhaps the next will be quicker as I will know what I am doing!

Life – we have just the one each
Today is ‘Send a card to a friend Day’ I’ve done that, in fact we have sent two.
We were promised 50-70mms of rain today and it all arrived at once this morning in the hooliest of hoolies that we have ever seen! Our garden became a series of ponds and the field behind us looked like a lake.

A walk into town became possible this afternoon and we called in to try a new Coffee Shop, Home Ground. It was lovely and warm in all respects. The welcome was friendly, the coffee excellent and the cakes delicious. We bought an extra one to share tomorrow, an almond and chocolate one which also happens to be gluten free. It aims to be a home from home and certainly the bookcase full of good reads was very inviting. The idea is that you can read while you are there and if the book takes your fancy you can buy it! There were some of our favourites for children on the bottom shelf – The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Masquerade among them.

I love going to meetings where everyone is up for trying out a new cake! Today’s was a sugar free Banana and Blueberry Roulade and was very well received! I’ll put the recipe up at some point. This is my variation of the recipe by Susanna Booth which was in The Guardian a few weeks ago.

After an excellent singing session and coffee with friends, I went to the new fish shop near our singing venue. What a selection of seafood caught locally this morning! I settled on a few Scallops and some Pollack but just had to catch the Plaice and the Red Snapper (or is it a Gurnard?) on camera. Click on the photo for the whole fish!
The Sculptor’s where we bought our beautiful Fledgling, Rholli’s, has someone else working in his workshop, with glass which is very lovely. I shall have to call in sometime soon.

When we singing this morning the tide was out. By the time we had finished it was well in. It is just the perfect setting for us all to sing and the singing and the view combined today, as on so many sessions, to be truly spirit lifting.

And a PS…. As I am writing this I am hearing on Radio 4 of the beautiful thing done by The Globe Theatre. They have taken their production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet to The Jungle in Calais for the Refugees to enjoy. I have just listened to a Syrian man describing how he loves the play and how he has loved seeing it again. It makes one weep to think how the lives of so many have been turned upsidedown.
Lifting the blind this morning there was a lovely crescent moon with clouds flitting over it.

I love how Truro Cathedral rises from the city and glows in the afternoon sunshine.

There were some lovely tea-bags in our apartment in Granollers and I brought one home to find here. This pretty one makes beautiful pink tea with Red Berry and Hibiscus which is very refreshing. The delicate little bags are biodegradable.

The vibrancy of these golden daffodils against the bright green grass quite took our breath away at the entrance to the nursery.
