Mosaic, Choir-Baby and Arizona Boots

While I have been away from singing, some new mosaics have been added to the building. This colourful fishy and boaty one is outside the pre-school room near to where we sing.

One of our choir members occasionally brings her Granddaughter to choir. Here she has stopped her colouring in and is gazing at the singers.

I love my hand-made Arizona boots, made to order for me many years ago by an artist friend of my sister who used to live in Prescott. I wore them to choir today. They always cheer me up should I need it. i didn’t today but they made lots of singers smile!

Family History, Planters and Advice Please

This post from Nancy came in today and landed at the most appropriate time as I have spent the morning sorting some family papers, reading wonderful bits of family history and, at last, throwing out the condolences cards sent when my lovely Dad died in 2004. It was lovely to read the messages again and I have kept a couple for the family history archive. I will keep going….. Mum’s to do next. It is not a sad task but life affirming in a strange way.  Theirs were good lives.
In amongst the papers was this photograph of my lovely Mum who spent her career in Camborne and Redruth, teaching deaf children. Many wrote to say how inspiring they found her.

This photo was also in the drawer, of me and the other Mums who had our babies on Christmas Day 1975! Both photos were in the local papers.

I'm sure you can tell which one is me!

Our walk today was just along local streets once the rain had stopped. These planters caught my eye.

We’d like some advice please from blogging friends in the US, specifically those who know the East. We are planning a road trip next May from Atlanta to Washington DC,  though the Blue Ridge Mountains, visiting the Shenandoah Valley, maybe going to Baltimore. Where should we not miss?  We will be having a week in Atlanta with family and will then have two weeks. We would be very grateful for any thoughts.

Space-Hopper, Rabbit and Quotation No 3

The Space-hopper we keep for the Grandkids moves around the garden… Today I spotted it sitting on the bench looking somewhat pleased with itself!

Driving home from singing tonight, a little rabbit was waiting to cross the road. I could only stop for a moment and the focus is not good but he was very sweet, crossed the road and ran off.

The following quotation applies to absolutely everyone everywhere:

“Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful”

Red Sails, Rosemary and Rumi

It has been a misty sort of a day but still lovely for a walk. I loved these red sails in the mist, on a very long zoom!

2   Our Rosemary finished flowering sometime ago but in the balmy air of Falmouth and the sunshine that came through the mist as we finished our walk, this one goes on and on.

The  words of Rumi resonate here as always:

“On a day
when the wind is perfect,
the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty.
Today is such a
day.”

Gerbera, Knitting and Lebanese Sfouf

I bought a couple of bunches of these Gerbera yesterday, one for us and one for our lovely neighbour Sue. The sun caught some of them this morning and they were positively glowing in the beams.

I heard from KniTZTanzania this morning that a new consignment of knitted outfits for new-borns is going out soon so all need to be posted asap. I had several knitted but not sewn up  so I have spent all afternoon sewing up tiny little jumpers.  Six of these are mine –  the yellow one made with love by Ti, the dark red one and the green one with the blue hat made by likewise by Jen Thank you both.

I did some baking too this afternoon, a Lebanese Sfouf which looks lovely. It is going to be a treat, served with Cardamon Yogurt, when we get home tonight after going to see Suffragette, the new film, with our neighbour.

Sunset, Kniphofia and Seed heads

We went to Porthtowan for supper and the sunset again tonight. We are so lucky to be able to do this! The sunset was glorious as the sun slipped into the sea. Outside the Blue Bar is a Kniphofia, a Red Hot Poker, that has grown in the strangest way and there are some dramatic seed-heads which looked good against the sunset sky.
