Singing, The Penryn River and KniTZTanzania

It was another fabulous session at choir today, as always enhanced by our beautiful Choir-babies.

The weather was again crisp and bright and I just managed to get these photos before the tide went out too far.

One of my choir friends has been knitting for KniTZTanzania as well and brought three beautiful sets to choir to be posted along with mine today. They have gone in the post this afternoon, 11 sets all bagged up with a message of love on each bag along with the name of the knitter – that’s Jen, Pauline, Ti and me.  It is lovely to think that our little outfits will be protecting babies in Tanzania from hypothermia.

Gerbera, Knitting and Lebanese Sfouf

I bought a couple of bunches of these Gerbera yesterday, one for us and one for our lovely neighbour Sue. The sun caught some of them this morning and they were positively glowing in the beams.

I heard from KniTZTanzania this morning that a new consignment of knitted outfits for new-borns is going out soon so all need to be posted asap. I had several knitted but not sewn up  so I have spent all afternoon sewing up tiny little jumpers.  Six of these are mine –  the yellow one made with love by Ti, the dark red one and the green one with the blue hat made by likewise by Jen Thank you both.

I did some baking too this afternoon, a Lebanese Sfouf which looks lovely. It is going to be a treat, served with Cardamon Yogurt, when we get home tonight after going to see Suffragette, the new film, with our neighbour.

Knitting, Clematis and Friendship

A friend’s Mum has joined me in knitting tiny jumpers and beanie hats for the babies in Tanzania. She has posted them off to KnitzTanzania already and sent me a photo. Aren’t they beautiful?

My favourite September Clematis, Lady Betty Balfour, has crept all the way along the green and white Pittosporum hedge and is tumbling down in a beautiful purple cascade.

Sue-next-door called in this afternoon for a catch up over a cuppa and that was lovely. Another lifting of spirits! Feeling better day by day now.

Gyllyngdune Gardens, A Sweater and A Mural

After singing, we met my brother and his wife who are here from America and we had a lovely lunch and a good natter in the sunshine in Falmouth, overlooking the bay. The gardens at the Princess Pavilions were blooming lovely!

2   One of our lovely choir members, Jen, has knitted a tiny sweater for a baby in Tanzania. I have six now to send off to KniTZTanzania. Thank you so much, Jen.

3   One of my favourite shops for cards and presents and pretty things, Just Delights, now has its Summer mural on the wall. I showed you the Winter one here. I’m thinking it will be the same artist, Elizabeth Perry,  but I cannot find the name.

Knitting, Pathetique Sonata and A Poppy

1   A friend’s Mum has been knitting for the babies of Tanzania, having been inspired by my post about  KnitZTanzania and the need for little sweaters and beanie hats to stop the babies dying of hypothermia. Here are what she describes as her ‘first’  batch!  Thank you so much for joining me in this venture. If you, too, would like to join us in this project, the pattern can be found here.   The address to send them to can be found in the comments on the same page.

2   I was reminded of a beautiful piece of music, Beethoven’s  Pathetique Sonata, 2nd Movement, this evening as it was part of BBC Radio 4’s  programme Pick of the Week, this week’s items being chosen by Antonia Quirke. Just listen to Daniel Barenboim playing  and feel the calm come over you……..

Weekly Photo Challenge – Intricate

The pattern on this little sweater, knitted for a new born in Tanzania, looks intricate. In fact, the wonderful  pattern is created by the yarn as you knit making the garment look very complicated but in fact it is very easy.

This is one of a collection being knitted by me and friends which will go KniTZ Tanzania, a charity that collects tiny knitted hats and sweaters for new born babies to prevent hypothermia.  If you want to knit too, have a look at  the very easy pattern here.
