It’s been a busy day – friends for coffee in the front garden (very cold) this morning, friends for tea and cake in the back garden (cold and wet!) in the afternoon and another meal out this evening! We all decided that we need to invest in some thermal and waterproof clothing so that we can continue to meet in our gardens over the winter. The vegan Thali at the Wilder Allotment Kitchen at the Mount Pleasant Eco Park was scrumptious and the music from the six gathered musicians a delight. A storm was coming as we left and a chunk of rainbow lit the darkening sky.

New Border, Village Clock and A Treat
The wall garden is nearly planted – Conifers, Clematis, heathers and 100+ bulbs hiding under the soil! Just the Winter Flowering Pansies to add for winter colour.
So much stuff to take to the dump! I took this photo on our way back through the village of St Day.
We decided to treat ourselves after working so hard for the last few days so I booked us a table at The Penventon Hotel, just a ten minute walk away. What a delightful evening we had with extra treats of dessert!
Another Lunch, Bouquet and Bias
I met the lovely Mr S for lunch again today. He is working on the boat on Freeman’s Wharf, getting her ready for launch later this month. We met at The Muddy Beach Cafe in Penryn and had a delightful lunch of an excellent Tomato and Roast Pepper Soup with Cheesy Toast and Onion Marmalade!
There was a wedding in the cafe yesterday and the place was looking lovely, full of jugs of Spring blooms and bright yellow paper baubles hanging from the ceiling.
The blackboard in the porch always amuses me and today I managed to get a photo.
Playing, Drinking and Eating
Oh, these family days are fun! Today was spent very happily with Daughter No 3 and her LiveWire with all manner of imaginative games and dinner tonight was with my kid brother and SiL at a local hostelry where the food is excellent and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming.
Travelling to Visit the LiveWires
We love the long train journey to London. After the hoohah of getting ready, the moment we step on the train we begin our adventure which starts with three days in London with family…….. Click on any photo for the captions and a bigger view.
We left Cornwall in 10C and arrived in London to 25C! Stepping off the air-conditioned train was like stepping off a plane in Greece! Last night we had no WiFi hence the late post.
Bandstand, Lunch Out and Fascicularia Bicolour
We decided lunch out would be good today after a month spent mostly indoors. We set off for the Princess Pavilion restaurant in the Gyllyngdune Gardens and though the bandstand was beautiful, the menu didn’t tickle our taste buds so we went on down to The Gylly Cafe.

That was a very good decision as I had one of the best lunches ever! I had their Mixed Seafood Platter which consisted of Crab claws, Scallops, Tiger prawns and Brill with a deliciously dressed salad. It was one of those meals that you just don’t want to finish and it did take a long time to eat being messily scrumptious.

Coming away, the brilliant red and blue Fascicularia Biclour in Queen Mary Gardens are in flower. They are like something from another world.
Brunch, Paper Flowers and Post Box
We love having brunch in Caffe Concerto before we spend the day in The Royal Academy. Today I had Eggs Benedict – delicious!

This is the rose that was on our table.
In the Burlington Arcade there were hanging bouquets of beautiful paper flowers.

Along the street I noticed a very interesting plaque on a post box.

Given yesterday’s post – I smiled at a dozen strangers today and eleven smiled back. Three stopped for brief cheerful conversations. I was very happy with that!
Friends, Dessert and A Cornish Lane
1 What good advice this is and today we have taken it!
2 We all had lunch in Porthleven and this was our dessert, Chocolate Brownie with Cherries and Pistachio Ice-cream. It was utterly delicious as was the rest of the meal.
3 Driving home through Cornish lanes with the sun streaming through the tress was another delight.
Birthday Lunch, Pendennis Castle and Skyline
1 We had a lovely lunch at The Cove in Maenporth to celebrate the birthday of a good friend. Our dessert was truly scrumptious!
2 Across from Maenporth, the setting sun (it was a long lunch!) lit up the cliffs and the castle with a glorious golden glow.
3 The skyline as we drove away was very dramatic and lovely.
