On our way through Truro we pass a roundabout that has three huge hedgehogs on it and I noticed the other day that they are in hibernation mode. Nearby is a post box that always has interesting crocheted/knitted toppers. However, we are always in the car when we go by and photos are impossible. Happily, we have good friends who live nearby and M has taken the photos for me. Thank you very much, M!

Our post box has a neat new topper for Christmas.
One of my dear singing friends who lives in a nearby village has sent me this beautiful, detailed and delightful topper from her postbox. What a lot of work goes into these pieces of art that are there for everyone passing by to enjoy. . 
We drove past a lovely Christmas train topper, like a gingerbread construction, in Truro yesterday but the photo is a bit blurry as we were moving.
Many craftivists have been busy making items to mark Armistice Day. Along our street there is a new post box topper.
In a nearby village, Carnon Downs, there is the most amazing display. It has, in the Main Street, purple poppies to mark the animals lost in war, traditional red poppies to mark the fallen soldiers and a few white ones.
We wear white poppies. They are to mark all those lost to war, past and ongoing, those who were fighting and the civilians caught up in war. Benjamin Zephaniah explains it beautifully.

Last time we visited our lovely 103 year old friend she asked where my love of elephants had begun. I said my Daddy reading Rudyard Kipling’s story of How the Elephant Got His Trunk might well be part of it. Later that evening I remembered Horton the Elephant, a book by Dr Seuss first published in 1940 Â which formed an important part of story time when I was little. Not having a copy any longer, I bought a used one from Ebay and it was delivered today. I realise that some of my personal philosophy also came from Horton – to be kind, to be true to my word and, with our children and with those I taught, that I only said what I meant.

The low Autumn sun made a shadow on the ceiling of the glass heart that we have hanging in our front window. I made it in March to show love and support for Ukraine.
We’ve had a quiet afternoon and I finished off the baby rug for the Grandbaby of a friend, in fact the new daughter of the young couple whose wedding ceremony I performed at the beach last year.
The seed heads of the Nelly Moser clematis are like spun gold in the morning sunshine.
I’m loving picking fresh lettuce almost every day, organic and full of goodness. Here it is in the salad spinner.
I’ve almost finished the baby blanket I showed you a few days ago, just lots of ends to be sewn in…….Next one is on the way and all using up what’s already in my stash!

A new word came my way. I think it’s very descriptive, a word that is ‘ripe for revival!’.
I am enchanted by the thought that each of us is 93% stardust!.
There are daffodils alongside the roadside all over the place in Cornwall now  but it is hard to catch a photo from a moving car so here are some we bought from the local greengrocer.

Our local hospital, The Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, Â has put out a call for Baby Beanie hats in red, amber and green for the newborns to wear, the colour indicating the level of care and feeding support required for the baby. I have put Snow Dog to one side and made my first three little hats ready for delivery.

When we were in Portugal, we called in at a most attractive little shop selling the kind of clothes that I like. While we were browsing, the young woman behind the counter was crocheting a flower in a natural cotton. She was delighted by my interest, told me that she attaches one to the brown paper bag she puts clothes in and then presented me with a flower! Â I came across it again today as I was about to hand wash my linen trousers. Yes, I did buy something!

Autumn is upon us.  I have spent the afternoon collecting up leaves in the front garden to make leaf mould and the clocks go back tonight. Here is an Autumny  poem for you – from Incantation by George Parsons Lathrop.
When the leaves, by thousands thinned,

Today is National Granny Square Day so I would like to show you some Granny squares made by my Granny and made into a blanket by my daughter for her daughter. LiveWire 4 has a blanket made by her Mum and her Great Great Granny! Please look at this earlier post as I cannot move the photos to here.

The first contingent of family arrive on Thursday  for our ten day long Golden Wedding Celebrations and today I have made the pie filling for Chicken, Potato and Asparagus Pie.
