Christmas Carols and Glass Angels

Yesterday my choir, The Ingleheart Singers, sang Christmas Carols to entertain the visitors to the Eco Park Christmas Market. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon despite the rain and today, our leader sent us the following photo and some wonderful comments that have pleased us all.

I was there but I’m behind our esteemed leader!

Eco Park: “Thank you so much for the wonderful singing. I’ve come here from Germany to stay with my daughter for Christmas. Your choir just opened my heart”

“As I walked towards the market, it looked so atmospheric and beautiful with the lights and everything, then I heard this incredible singing and saw you all in your reds stood there, it really was the cherry on the cake! It was the best Christmas singing I’ve ever heard in my life!”

Chef from the cafe: “You must be very pleased with yourselves, I’ve just had some people come in and say they were moved to tears by the singing.”

I’m working hard to get my last few angels finished. I’m incorporating more of the sea glass I have been given. Here are the last few in various stages of being done.

Sunlight, Cake Tin and Cake

The sunlight on wet leaves in the front garden lit up so much through the front door that I thought the neighbours had put Christmas fairy lights in their trees already.

I bought a Christmas cake tin many years ago. This is the first time I’ve used it to make a cake for tomorrow’s extra market at the Redruth Switch On Christmas Lights Ceremony.

Decorations, Leaves and Today’s Angel

Our weekly coffee date was in a new venue today and we liked their decorations, tiny felted birds on a large bare branch hanging from the ceiling.

The golden colours of autumn lined the roads on my drive and were there outside the cafe too.

I chose Christmassy colours for today’s angel and am happy with the result.

Sisters, A Birthday and A Hope

A lovely memory in this photo of me and my sister when we were in Seattle..

Today is the birthday of Danylo, one of our Ukrainian friends, who were with us last year. I made this angel with him in mind last year, in the colours of Ukraine and with the words ‘a walk on the beach by the sea’ as that is what he loved to do when staying with us.

Angel, Cake and A Letter

I’ve made my first angel of the season and I’m feeling good!

Tonight I’ve made a gluten free Ginger Spiced Honey Cake for the volunteers tomorrow.

I’ve had another brief letter published in The Guardian. Simple pleasures delight me!

Santa Fe – Breakfast and Loretto Chapel

We loved the soft architecture of Santa Fe (of which more later) and the place we stayed had features of the same.

We had the most delicious breakfast in a lovely hotel in Santa Fe where glass panels were all painted and very lovely. As far as I could tell, each of the 100+ panels had a different painting..

Oak Street Canyon, Jerome and Earrings

On September 6th, we went to the lovely old mining town of Jerome to visit our nephew, an artist in glass whose work I have shown you here before. It’s an interesting drive through the Oak Street Canyon, a switch back ride through forests. The switchback can be seen in four places in the photo.

We had a delightful visit with Mark and his artist girlfriend who are, together, the featured artists in a local gallery

As we went back up the Oak Street Canyon we stopped at the overlook where there was a craft market and I bought some beautiful locally made beaded earrings.

What a beautiful sky last night.

I’ve been working with our artist friends next door and the faces are nearing completion. Here are some of them hanging in the trees and creating beautiful reflections.

Songs of Rebellion and Glass Work

Yesterday my choirs performed in Redruth at Kresen Kernow, a beautiful building that used to be the old brewery and is now a library of all Cornish archives. We were there to celebrate .an exhibition of stories about women in the South West and to sing our songs of rebellion and those about Cornish women. It was brilliant! The audience loved us and gave us a standing ovation!

This afternoon I have been helping our lovely artist neighbour with a project she and her brother are making for a festival in Glasgow, huge mirror ball faces and I’ve been helping to cut the glass and fill in some repairs on the old heads.

Baby Plants, Wisteria and Evening Sunlight

We’ve been working in our own garden today and have planted all the baby lettuces in the trough ( just the edible flowers to add) and the little brassicas in one of the raised beds at the back. The Sweetcorn will go in tomorrow if this lovely settled weather continues.
