Breakfast, Door No and Bike on the Beach

What a delicious Blueberry Pancake breakfast!

Driving through Truro we were stopped at some temporary traffic lights and for the first time I noticed a lovely door plaque.

It has been a beautiful evening and we walked along the beach at Porthtowan before having supper at the Blue Bar – a lovely way to spend the evening together prior to my solo trip to Barcelona tomorrow.

Hector, Leaf and Honeysuckle

I held my breath as Hector, Redruth’s Railway cat, crossed the lines as a train was due. He must have know that it was twenty minutes late!

On the way down from the station, where I had been buying my tickets for Bristol Airport ( and thence to Barcelona to meet our Grand-baby twins on Thursday), I spotted this pretty leaf.

Coming up the lane, the Honeysuckle is in bloom.

Tornado, Open Studios and Ferns

A Steam train came through town today! The Tornado, a real beauty that we waited nearly an hour to see. It was worth it for the sound, the sight and the smell!

Off to Krowji next for some more Open Studios fun. The LiveWires wanted to track down all the ceramics on show and found some pieces that they liked. They still felt Nicky’s pots were the best!

On the walk back from Krowji, T spotted some pretty ferns.

Gwennap Graveyard, Jeremy Visick and Open Studios

LiveWire 2 has just finished reading one of his Great Grandfather’s books, Jeremy Visick, and wanted to be taken to see the gravestone that inspired my Dad, David Wiseman, to write the story. We found the gravestone to the Martins, looked at the cottage where Matthew lived, walked through the avenue of yew trees, walked by the stream where Matthew’s Dad washed the car, found Wheal Maid…… it was wonderful to hear J quoting from the novel and asking to find the next place!

After lunch we went on another Open Studios tour, mainly because the children wanted to see Nicky throwing pots. They were totally engrossed! We were then encouraged to visit the other Open Studios in the village of Crowan and discovered such treasures – Cormorant Reconsidered Furniture where unique and beautiful furniture is to be found. I wish we had room for at least one piece. I just loved the mirrors made by Joanna Moran and the originality of her thought and creativity.  From there we went to visit Martin Douglas Guitars, more beautiful work, this time handmade guitars which were inspiring! The children enjoyed each and every visit but loved the pot throwing the best.  Open Studios continues all next week so there is plenty of time to go and visit!

Concert, Finished Thatch and Patterns

Today I had people in the audience when we did a concert! The Inglehearts and The Suitcases sang in Truro Cathedral as part of their Lunchtime Concerts Series and it was so lovely to have Daughter No 2 and her two LiveWires there smiling as we sang.

Choirs at Truro Cathedral

Driving home there was no-one behind us so I was able to get a much better photo of the newly thatched cottage along the road.

Isn’t this beautiful?

All the LiveWires love the tessallation shapes that their own parents played with 40 odd years ago!

Meeting Welly-Dog, In the Bath and Preview

We have had another fleeting and very lovely visit from Daughter No 3 and family en route back from the Scilly isles where they had a brilliant holiday.     LiveWire no 4 loves our garden, can name lots of flowers including Three Cornered Leek and enjoyed chatting to Welly-Dog.

Later, after they had gone, I discovered some of the bath toys abandoned after her bath this morning.

This evening we went to the Preview of an Open Studio show by our lovely friend, Nicky. Beautiful work and lots of red spots already!

Front Door Window, A Tin and Gifts

The evening light on our front garden coming through the front door window was very lovely tonight.

I found a most appropriate little tin in my favourite haberdashery shop the other day when I was buying ribbons for the show.I have some little gifts awaiting opening! They are from our American visitors and for the core group of Perthi Kov. The opening will have to wait until the evening of June 8th when we are to have a Weleda Pamper Evening!

Clematis, A Cafe and Pablo Neruda

The centre of this White Clematis is very lovely.

We have been in St Austell shopping for a Fridge Freezer as ours has stopped working! On our walk through the town we saw this delightful cafe, The China Cafe, and wanted to stop for a coffee but it looked full.

The light at this time of the year is so glorious! This simple poem from Pablo Neruda explains it beautifully.

Ode to Enchanted Light – Pablo Neruda

Under the trees light
has dropped from the top of the sky,
light
like a green
latticework of branches,
shining
on every leaf,
drifting down like clean
white sand.

A cicada sends
its sawing song
high into the empty air.

The world is
a glass overflowing
with water.

Friendship, New Thatch and Zorro

I’ve been kind of hibernating for a couple of days, so tired from the show and catching up on all sorts of things that I’ve been ignoring for months!  The first photo is from the end of the show party where those who had been instrumental in making it all happen were recognised. The photo is a bit blurry but I love the expression of delight and friendship between me and Claire.

Another not so good photo as I took it from the moving car and caught the window edge – but wanted to show you this glorious new thatch which we have been watching develop over the last few weeks. It isn’t a good place to stop but if I can I will get the whole cottage soon.

This last photo was taken through the window and is another for interest rather than quality! Zorro, who lives next door,  seems to be finding the bright Crinodendron quite fascinating.

Carn Brea, Sky Kiss and Two Gifts

We had a windy walk around Carn Brea today, away from everything, to allow my brain to settle down! St Euny Church can be seen among the trees from our vantage point at the top. On a clear day the sea can be seen on the North and the South coasts but not today. As well as the views and the flowers  I found a little heart in the dust.

Then we spotted the Sky-kiss left by vapour trails in the sky.

Friends have been so kind and loving over this whole Until the Day Break period. On the first night I was given, by J&M, a lovely bunch of purple, white and green flowers which are still going strong and on the last night, a magnet depicting the strong women we had been representing in the graveyard with our March of the Women song( from D&R) Thank you all.
