Beautiful New Friendship, Jake’s Amazing Models and Creamy White Chocolate Chai and Vanilla Pots

1   Singing with The Suitcases and Claire is always beautiful, rain or not. One of our choir-babies was with us as well as the daughter of a very good friend and they had great fun together. If you look carefully, you’ll see the Sally-boots which have been pulled off!

Beautiful new friends

2     We’re keeping Jake’s lovely models until his next visit. (I know, he may have lost interest!)

Jake’s models – the hangar made with Mikki, the aeroplane made with Mr S and the rockets made with his Mum and me.

3     I made these deliciously wicked  puds for KJ and Lucy’s last night and we finished them off today. The recipe came from http://thenutritionguruandthechef.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/creamy-white-chocolate-chai-and-vanilla-pots/

Singing, Groucho Marx and Piano Playing

1   After singing with Sophie and the Suitcases this morning, I took the Sally-boots that I made this week to a friend for her new baby boy, Declan.

2   I have been reminded this afternoon by of a quotation that pleases me.  Thank you,  Usha Pisharody

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
~Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx.

3   It’s been a long time since my last piano lesson but I have practised a lot since we came home from Senegal and today my lovely teacher said, with the first half of one piece, that I would have been given top marks if that had been the exam! Now I have to make the rest of the piece as good!

Penryn, Shopping and Nutella

1   Another beautiful day so singing with The Suitcases in the Zed Shed was particularly lovely with the view of the Penryn river as a backdrop. It was our last session with Claire for seven weeks as she goes off to London to be MD on the Wildworks production, Babel in Caledonia Park. I hope to go up to London to see the show in May.

2   Went into Truro after singing to meet the lovely Mr S to do some final shopping for our trip to Senegal and also met Phillipa and Dan with their tiny baby daughter for whom I knitted the Sally-boots. They are too big for her just yet.

3     I made some Nutella meringues! Truly scrumptious but one to share was enough and the rest will be frozen. This was to use up all the egg whites I had left from making Jewel Cookies.  Choc Chip Uru at Go Bake Yourself was my inspiration for these. Thank you!   http://gobakeyourself.wordpress.com/

Sally-Boots, The Heligan Giant and Swish

1   I finished the Sally-boots for Dan’s new daughter just as he finished our fence. We all feel pleased.

2   Lucy has been working in the Lost Gardens of Heligan helping to restore The Heligan Giant with the sculptors, Sue Hill and her brother, Pete.

3   Went to the Swish at Krowji with Lucy this evening and we both found things we can wear in Senegal. A Swish, for those who don’t know is a clothes swap.

New Baby, Blogger Award and a Simple Supper

1   Work on the fence has stopped temporarily as our lovely landscaper became a Dad overnight!  Congratulations to D&P. I’ll have to get busy on a pair of Sally-Boots!

2    I’ve been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!   Very pleasing. Check out the details here http://mybeautfulthings.com/versatile-blogger-award/ or by clicking at the top left of the page.

3  The simplest of suppers – Tomato and Mozzarella Pasta – delicious!

Bonus for today……

No 4  We’ve just seen Venus and Jupiter, seemingly very close together, in the night sky just above where the sun set. I’m told they are 3-4* apart and will be visible in our sky until Saturday if the skies are clear.

Friends, Sally-boots and Piano Lesson

1  Despite a disastrous start to the day with two burst tyres, singing with the Suitcases and then a lovely lunch with understanding friends helped to recover the day.

2  Seeing Choir-baby Elowyn in her Sally-boots was a great pleasure, especially as they matched her Babygro.

3  My piano lesson went really well. I’m told I’m just about ready to take my Grade 1 should I want to!
