Tree Trunk, Love and Goodbye Gig

1   Coming home from town this morning, I walked on the other side of the road to be in the sun, which was warm, and noticed this lovely twisted tree trunk in the midst of the bright green new growth of Crocosmia.

2   These two are often in the tree outside our bedroom window. I like to think that they are a couple much in love! Does anyone know if they do, indeed, mate for life as swans do?

3   The Gig tonight is to say Goodbye to one of our lovely choir members who is off to Glasgow. She will be taking her special Choir-baby, T, with her of course and we will miss them both so much. We’ll also be raising money for Red Nose Day.

Choir-Baby Walking, Pumpkins and Recipe Links

1      Imagine our delight when 11 month old Choir-baby T, set off to walk across the room this morning! Last week he could wall-walk; this week he can walk confidently and turn around without falling!

I’ve had enough of this grown-up talk! I’m off to explore!

2   Only the other day, I was admiring a photo of pumpkins from America and then today when I went shopping, I saw all these. Wish they were as beautifully displayed as the ones mentioned.

3   I’ve frozen the Curried Cauliflower Soup today and have put the recipe on my Recipe Page. You can find it here. You can also find the Happy Cake recipe here .

P.S. A warning about the Happy Cake! The tryptophan might make you sleepy!

Some lovely Fellow Bloggers have given me some delightful Awards – thank you all so much, very much appreciated!   I’ll sort them out asap!

Syncopation, Baby Naming and ‘Making it up”

1    A brilliant singing session where we had to work really hard with some tricky notes and syncopation and then a lovely coffee session with friends in the cafe downstairs.

2    Spent a happy hour with L, Choir-baby T’s Mum, planning  his Humanist Baby Naming. He slept throughout and woke just as we finished.

3    The following poem by John Siddique, a particular favourite of mine which I give to parents of new babies, is probably going to be included.

MAKING IT UP

Fold yourself the mind you want.

Make a paper hat

and wear it on your head. Hold it tight

when the wind blows.

Paint yourself the heart you desire. Pin it

on your jumper, be proud of your colours.

Pin it fast and don’t mind the rain.

Write yourself the love you love. Hold that

paper tight in your hand. Unfold it often,

read your plan aloud in sun and in snow.

Walk yourself the world you want. Each step

is breath. It’s your life. Stamp big-footed.

Walk soft. Dance your way in all the weathers.

John Siddique

NB  I posted this yesterday, 27th September, and had some likes and comments but it has since disappeared and shows now only as a draft with no tags/ categories so I’m publishing it again. Just found that it has already been published twice on my Facebook page – all very odd!

Friends, Sally-boots and Piano Lesson

1  Despite a disastrous start to the day with two burst tyres, singing with the Suitcases and then a lovely lunch with understanding friends helped to recover the day.

2  Seeing Choir-baby Elowyn in her Sally-boots was a great pleasure, especially as they matched her Babygro.

3  My piano lesson went really well. I’m told I’m just about ready to take my Grade 1 should I want to!
