Shopping, Exhibition and A Poem

It wasn’t until I unpacked the shopping from our local greengrocer when we got home that I saw, with delight, the tangerines that the lovely Mr S had picked up. I think the youngsters at GrowBox had some fun this morning. Well done and thank you!

After a busy week we managed to get to Kresen Kernow to see the International Day of Repair exhibition where my pieces of Kintsugi can be seen.

This poem needs no words from me.

It’s a full moon tonight, Hunter’s Moon,  and regular readers will know how I love the moon. Sadly, there is too much cloud so I have also missed the partial eclipse that happened this evening. I hope some of you managed to see it.

A Day of Learning

After the last session of my writing course – which was both challenging and enjoyably satisfying – I went to meet a friend for lunch (an excellent red pepper soup.)
After a long catch-up, we strolled over to Kresen Kernow (Cornwall Centre, home to the world’s largest collection of documents, books, maps and photographs related to Cornwall’s history)  where there is an exhibition about Cornish women. It was absolutely fascinating. My favourite story was of Mary Kelynack whom you can read about in this work by Michael Tangye, a local historian, In brief, she walked form Newlyn to London to visit The Great Exhibition, yes, she walked! And she was 76!

Thank you C for the photo

Just watched a very moving programme Channel 4 Bear Grylls meets Volodymyr Zelensky. If you get the chance, do watch it.

A Birthday, St Piran’s Parade and Chapel Porth

Daughter No 1 is with us for her birthday which is lovely. We have had a splendid day enjoying first the Redruth St Piran’s parade,

then a trip to Chapel Porth for a walk up to Wheal Coates and lunch at the Beach Cafe (their Croque Monsieurs are truly scrumptious!) The wind was so wild with gusts of 30-40mph that I abandoned the cliff top walk and left the other two to it! They did return! One of her siblings and family had rung to sing Happy Birthday just as they reached Wheal Coates.

They did come back over the hill

Then we  called in at Kresen Kernow to show M the wonderful new/old building

and have just finished our Birthday dinner of Confit Duck with Blackberry sauce followed by Chocolate Torte. Another sibling and family rang while we were cooking dinner. Happiness all round!
