Rainfall, Harvest and Feather

18 Aug

There has been rain over the last two nights but only 3 mls recorded since last Tuesday at Community Roots. A farmer on the radio this morning said the 8 mls he’d recorded was, ‘”A Goldilocks amount, not too little and not too much!”  We hope for a little more over the next few days but with family about to visit, not so much as to spoil their fun!

More tomatoes were harvested today.

Choc Cherry Tomatoes

The raindrops gathered on a feather caught my eye.

I’m surprised the tomatoes look so plump and juicy in the midst of your prolonged dry spell. They look delicious!

There is a brilliant watering system at community roots with underground tanks and lots of sprinklers so things in the poly tunnels have done well. crops in the outdoors have not done as well, rather smaller onions for instance. 🙂

Same here, it was little rain and the soil is still dry….. so every drop counts.
