A woodpecker has been visiting our bird feeders.
Zoom singing with The Suitcase Singers this morning was joyful and a tonic. I would share one of the three screen shots but all the names were there. What a wonderful community of singers we are!

It is World Bee Day today and we had some in the garden where we have been working most of the day as the sun has been shining again.
I’ve finished one set of masks for the Barcelona branch of the family -one each for Mum, Dad, LiveWire no 1 and twin LiveWires 5 and 6. I expect you can tell which fabrics the little ones chose. I hope that, having chosen their own fabrics online from our local shop, Redruth Sewing Studio, they will be willing to wear them. There are other fabrics to be made up in the next batch.
One of our very dear friends came by today now that we are allowed to meet outside. We spent a very happy couple of hours in the garden. N brought with her some wonderful gifts and a pile of beautiful story books for us to borrow to read over Skype to our three year old LiveWire twins in Barcelona.
There were freshly laid eggs, two of which which we will have for breakfast and freshly dug new potatoes which we have enjoyed this evening.
N also brought me some delicate feathers for a very special purpose. I have a wonderful collection of Samantha Bryan’s fairies (Did you know all fairies have to learn to fly?) and a couple of them have disintegrating wings! They were made of skeleton leaves which are not as long lasting as feathers which many of my fairies have. We are going to try to replace the leaves with feathers – after getting advice from the maker herself.
That was a very precious few hours as we haven’t seen each other for almost three months and at the beginning of that time, N suffered with C19 and we were so very worried. It was just wonderful to see her properly again not just on a screen even if we couldn’t hug.
Two walks today, Â one to the beach, first time in nearly 3 months and, oh, I needed that!

Tonight’s walk took us up along the back lane, a favourite walk. The sounds as we came alongside St Euny Churchyard were very noticeable.
I planted up the Violas today and now our edible garden is fully planted. We had our first Lettuce leaves from here today and Basil on our salad yesterday. There are three Thyme plants, some Wild garlic, tiny Pea Shoots and some Borage, the lovely blue flowers of which are delightful in salads and in gin! The tiles at the back are Liberty gardening pictures that used to be in a fireplace in the house we lived in when I was five years old. 
The Libertia Grandiflora on our Cornish hedge attracts lots of bees.
I made a Chicken and Leek Pie for supper tonight. It was scrumptious!
Garden centres opened again last Wednesday and the lovely Mr S went (safely masked)  today to find some of the plants I have been longing for. He found them all in one place! The Thymes in our herb wall have become very woody and leggy so I hoped to replace them. Mr S found the three varieties that I wanted! There are also Violas for the edible trough, Chives to replace those killed off over the winter, Sapphire Lobelia to trail down the pan-stand, a white Lavender for the steps  and a very dark Iris, Mr S’s favourite. 
It was warm enough to have lunch outside. This is one of our Summer favourites.
For our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, our four bought us a beautiful Acer in a ruby coloured pot. It is at its best as the leaves are new and gorgeous. I love that Cornish Violets have self-seeded in the pot.
The masks that I am now making need bias binding so I raided Mum’s haberdashery box again and found it full of treasure – of course – lots of different colours and widths, some brand new like this one!
A thank you card arrived today, such a beautiful, happy card with a painting by Carl Lawson entitled “The Boy With The Knot ” Thank you, Ti, it’s lovely.
Our walk often takes us along Church lane where the wild flowers abound. This one has grown so very  fast, now at least 3ft high but I don’t know its name. It looks like Angelica but that may be a fantasy!
Last night’s sunset was absolutely gorgeous! The crimson and golden glow crept across our sitting room so we went upstairs to capture the beauty of the setting sun sinking into the sea.
Today is International Dylan Thomas Day. I love the works of Dylan Thomas especially Under Milk Wood which I used to teach to GCSE students many years ago. I was brought up on this version on two long playing records with Richard Burton as the First Voice and here, for your delectation, is that wonderful voice with the inimitable words of Dylan Thomas.
Some time ago, I was offered the chance to have some earrings made, as a gift while in lockdown. The maker was unknown to me but here today, in the infrequent post, came a beautiful little pair of handmade silver and crystal earrings which I shall treasure. They are just 1″ long and very pretty. Thank you very much Karen.
This is the start of our walk uphill to the Great Flat Lode, about 10 mins from home.
The ferns are starting to unfurl, seeming to have little pearls at the end of each frond.
The sea on the horizon was very blue today and the Spring leaves, very green.
It’s International Nurses’ Day so let’s hear it for Nurses all over the world who do such a remarkable job day after day in ordinary times as well as in extraordinary times. 
Last night I sewed the buttons onto my last four scrub caps which will be collected by Cornwall Scrubs for distribution soon. A friend posted two caps for me the other day and yesterday  I received a message of thanks from a Nurse on ICU in Doncaster whose Mum has been a very dear friend of mine for many, many years.
Yesterday I posted a photograph of my lovely Mum and one of my cousins who lives in Australia wrote a comment about how alike our Mum and her Dad were at similar ages. I think they looked alike from being very young as the following old photo, taken in about 1920, shows.
