New Planting, Echinacea and Supper

I have planted up the edible trough for the winter – winter flowering Violas, baby Lettuce plants and some Winter Lettuce seeds under the cover. Still in there are the self sown Nasturtium (for as long as it lasts), the Borage, Chives and the three different Thyme plants.

Echinacea is a lovely flower at this time of year. We are working out where to plant this one.

Supper tonight was a Prawn, Pepper and Spinach Stir fry with rice noodles – very tasty!

Edible Garden, Bee and Supper

I planted up the Violas today and now our edible garden is fully planted. We had our first Lettuce leaves from here today and Basil on our salad yesterday. There are three Thyme plants, some Wild garlic, tiny Pea Shoots and some Borage, the lovely blue flowers of which are delightful in salads and in gin! The tiles at the back are Liberty gardening pictures that used to be in a fireplace in the house we lived in when I was five years old.

The Libertia Grandiflora on our Cornish hedge attracts lots of bees.

I made a Chicken and Leek Pie for supper tonight. It was scrumptious!
