Christmas Boxes, Tree and Hugs

You may have read a few days ago of the Christmas Boxes we have contributed to, to provide Christmas dinner in a box for the most impoverished families in Cornwall. Today, they have been collected from all over Cornwall and these are the words of the lovely, hardworking organisers.

“965 boxes donated – that’s something like £30,000 of food, helping around 5,000 people this Christmas.
That is awesome!
We are so proud of the people of Cornwall!!”

Isn’t that amazing? What generosity from one of the poorest areas of Europe!

The lovely Mr S put up our tree today. We’ll decorate it tomorrow.

I loved the idea of hugs being like jump start leads. Thank you so much to the makers, creatorsneverprosper.

Lights Tree, Cyclamen and An Angel

The lovely Mr S put up our lights tree in the back garden. What a delight when darkness had fallen!

The tree of lights

I have put two Cyclamen we were given in among the various house plants and added the glass lights tree-cone which illuminates it all beautifully. Thanks A and P.

We were also given a pretty little angel to add to my collection. It is simple and very lovely and I will add it to the tree when we get it up later this week.

Porcelain Angel – thanks A

To all those kind people who have been wishing me well, I am on the mend and I thank you all for your love and concern.

In the Garden in December

The lovely Mr S has been out into the rather damp garden to find me some beautiful things as I am laid up with some vile lurgy that has knocked the stuffing out of me. Postings may be sporadic over the next few day and I apologise to followers for no beautiful things yesterday.

Dawn, Fox and Dessert

It was a beautiful dawn this morning.

As I was watching the sun come up I noticed a fox walking across the back field.

Christmas Boxes, Scented Rose and Supper

We delivered our boxes today and were pleased to see others at the collection point.

Christmas Dinner Boxes

I called in to see my lovely neighbour this afternoon. Her rose, which smells divine, is still in flower and there is one more outside to be picked soon.

Young Lycidas

I tried another vegan recipe last night and it was delicious. I served it with onion gravy and broccoli.

Stars, Paintings and Do Good December

We went back to Krowji today, to their Open Studios event,  so that I could show the lovely Mr S some of the beautiful art work I had seen on Friday.  We sang under these stars on Friday.

We both fell for some of Kerry Harding’s paintings seen below with her permission – fabulous dramatic work that, sadly was beyond our price tag.

Kerry Harding’s beautiful work

I also loved one of Chloe  Tinsley’s paintings, vibrant and catching at my heart strings – again with a rather large price tag though I am figuring out how to do this!  Click on the red link to see the painting that I fell in love with.

It’s December and I am sharing another positive poster from Action for Happiness.

Do good December

We have started on the Do Good thing by making up two boxes for Cornwall’s Christmas box project where a whole Christmas dinner plus treats are packed up in a decorated box and distributed, via the council, The boxes are given out by Cornwall Council’s teams working with vulnerable and impoverished families, the poorest in Cornwall, to give them something for Christmas. More than 500 were donated last year.  If you are local and would like to contribute, here is the link.

Leaves, Singing and Nativity Scene

The Cotoneaster’s leaves are as red as its berries.

This afternoon The Suitcase Singers sang on the top deck of an open-topped bus to entertain the shoppers in Falmouth. The lower deck was a Santa’s Grotto!

I love this knitted Nativity scene found in the window of Book Mark, Falmouth’s second hand bookshop. Note the selfie stick held by Joseph, reminiscent of all the selfies we saw being taken in the Sagrada Familia earlier in the week.
