Beads, Singing and A Sculptor

A dear friend has given me some ‘jewels’ for my glass work. It’s always an inspiration when new beads come in and I begin to plan how I might use them. Look out for them in future pieces.

Thank you N

We sang our first Christmas carols today at the Open Studios event at Krowji. It was brilliant – we and our audiences loved it. One of them videoed some of the Ukrainian carol, Carol of the Bells. Here is a link to see and hear the extract. https://www.facebook.com/reel/667726934976259.

Thanks to Sandra for the photo

In the breaks between sets, we can wander around the many studios and I was privileged to meet a sculptor , David Westby, whose work intrigued me – lots of cockerels, and some paintings. We got chatting and he explained the stories behind some of his work. When I asked if I could take a picture for mybeautfulthings blog, he picked up a hat and posed for me all the while telling me the story behind the hat and that it is dedicated to St Lucia,Saint of Light and Sight, hence the candles and spectacles on his hat. You can read more about her here.

Choirs of Angels

Glass all day ready for the market tomorrow – I now have a beautiful choir of angels – and then, this evening, I went singing with my beautiful choirs at Krowji for the start of the Christmas season. We can only sing in groups of ten so that we don’t block the corridors for all the people who have come to visit the artists’ studios. It’s quite a challenge with only two or three in each part.

Stars, Paintings and Do Good December

We went back to Krowji today, to their Open Studios event,  so that I could show the lovely Mr S some of the beautiful art work I had seen on Friday.  We sang under these stars on Friday.

Backdrop in the entrance of Krowji

We both fell for some of Kerry Harding’s paintings seen below with her permission – fabulous dramatic work that, sadly was beyond our price tag.

Kerry Harding’s beautiful work

I also loved one of Chloe  Tinsley’s paintings, vibrant and catching at my heart strings – again with a rather large price tag though I am figuring out how to do this!  Click on the red link to see the painting that I fell in love with.

It’s December and I am sharing another positive poster from Action for Happiness.

Do good December

We have started on the Do Good thing by making up two boxes for Cornwall’s Christmas box project where a whole Christmas dinner plus treats are packed up in a decorated box and distributed, via the council, The boxes are given out by Cornwall Council’s teams working with vulnerable and impoverished families, the poorest in Cornwall, to give them something for Christmas. More than 500 were donated last year.  If you are local and would like to contribute, here is the link.

Krowji, The Pandora Inn and Mylor

Today has been so filled with beauty! First there was the beauty of human voices in harmony singing at Krowji’s Open studios event. Then of course, there was the beauty created by the artists in all sorts of media – such talent. For lunch we went down to The Pandora Inn (I had scallops, of course) and then on to Mylor, more water and the fascinating old graveyard there.
