Choir Baby, Back View and Dylan Thomas

1 Singing today was brilliant, learning a song for next week’s gig with Rachel Rose Reid. Choir-baby E now joins in our warm up exercises and loves our singers. Here she is with Daisy, one of our new and very talented members who will be the support act at the gig.

Moon, Carol Singing and Snow Dog!

1 The moon this morning, just at the start of dawn, was beautiful and if you look carefully, you can see the pink-tinged vapour trail of a plane as it catches the colour from the sunrise.

2 Here I offer you up a Carol Concert! These are some videos of our concert on Wednesday in Truro Cathedral, with many thanks to T and D. We start with a beautiful piece May This Room. Click on any red link to hear Claire Ingleheart’s three choirs singing in the Cathedral.
The Redruth Wassail follows, then Silent Night, Star of Bethlehem, Dona Nobis and finishing with Rolling Downwards.
I hope you enjoy these carols. We love singing them!

3 I have finished the Snow Dog! He has certainly been a challenge and a labour of love and I love him to bits. I hope Grand Baby T does too! For those of you able to get UK TV, the animation will be on Channel 4 at 7.30 on Christmas Eve.

Nelson Mandela, Raindrops and Concert

1 What a wise man Mandela was and what a loss to the world. It’s a pity a man like that can’t live for ever but we hope his influence and legacy will.

2 I love how the raindrops magnify the veins on the leaves.

3 The Suitcase Singers did a brilliant gig tonight! This is the stage afterwards with the leftover feather from some of the boas. Sorry I don’t have a photo of the choir. Everyone really dresses up for these gigs in black with bright colours and lots of glitter. We are told that we look fantastic!

Logs, Fungi and Crocus (And The Gig)

1 My piano teacher had had to have a tree felled as it had been almost toppled by the wild weather. The logs looked so beautiful on her lawn so I asked if I could take a photo and I was given some to bring home!

Fifteen years old?

2 The wet weather over the last four years has wreaked havoc with my potting-up table. Once upon a time, it was a beautiful coffee table made by an ex-boyfriend and given to us as a wedding present 47 years ago. It is still well loved but, truth be told, it is beginning to rot. However, these beautiful fungi and lichen are growing on it and I’m sure it will last at least another season. I’d love it to get to 50 years old!

3 I’d forgotten I’d planted these very delicately mauve and purple crocuses so their appearance has been a lovely surprise.

The Goodbye Gig last night was enormous fun. We sang the best we ever had; the cabaret acts were brilliant and we will have raised a goodly amount for Comic Relief but we won’t know exactly how much until singing next Thursday.

Suitcase Singers, Dancing for One Billion Rising and Valentine Baking

1 First it was singing which was wonderful! Beautiful choir-babies, all buns sold, I met A, the baby I showed you yesterday and we learned Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’ a capella (as all our singing is) in four parts – hard work, great fun and very satisfying indeed and afterwards……

2 We danced! We were some of the One Billion Rising protest that invited women all over the world to dance today to highlight violence against women and we danced in the Jubilee Wharf Courtyard outside Miss Peapod’s Cafe.

For our lovely neighbours and I’ve put two in the freezer for G&N for when she returns from NZ

3 This afternoon I’ve baked the most amazing cakes using fresh eggs, brought to choir this morning by G, as he does each week. He also brought, especially for me, some beetroot which he pulled up only this morning as I had mentioned last night that I wanted to try making a Chocolate and Beetroot Cake for Valentine’s Day. How much fresher a cake could you have? I’ll put the recipe up later if anyone would like it. It’s so delicious and moist and very chocolatey! If I hadn’t told about the beetroot, no one would guess!

Les Miserables was brilliant! We all enjoyed the film enormously.

Humanist Wedding, More Marmalade and The Gig

! A lovely happy meeting this morning with a delightful couple planning their Wedding for June.

2 We’ve made our final batch of marmalade for this year, another 9lbs, enough for us and plenty to give away to friends.

3 The gig at the Poly tonight is in aid of keeping that venue open. Let’s hope there’s a generous audience in!

The Suitcase Singers, Bell Tower and Brandy Snaps

1 Fantastic singing this morning. It’s three years since Claire started this choir and we go from strength to strength! I needed a photo today to send to Spotlight Southwest for tomorrow night’s Children in Need show for which last week’s buns made £25 in the end. I told the choir that I’d already sent a photo of my buns and that I needed an up-to-date photo of the choir. The place fell apart and I realised what I had said! That’s an Americanism that is pretty new over here!

2 Driving through Ponsanooth, there were temporary traffic lights so I had the opportunity to take a photo of this very pretty bell tower – and with a bird on top!
