Lighthouse, Lemon Curd and The Moon

1   We had a birthday lunch with friends in Maenporth today, such a beautiful day with warm sunshine, blue skies and seas but I was just too late to catch the sparkler on the birthday boy’s dessert!

2    I made a batch of Lemon Curd today( recipe here) and have potted it in the individual jars that we brought home from our holiday. I  plan to sell them at Ingleheart’s choir on Monday evening as part of our fundraising for our reciprocal trip next Autumn to the Welsh choir who visited us last summer.

3   The moon was visible at dusk tonight and then the lovely Mr S called me to see a beautiful circular pinkish haze around it as darkness came. I expect there’s a name for that, that Alex will be able to tell me.

Umbrella, Butterfly and Golden Curd

1   What a lovely sing this morning and with the added delight of the choir-babies who always make us smile.

2   There were spare fresh eggs this morning so I bought them and therefore had enough to make Lemon Curd this afternoon. I have never seen such beautifully golden Lemon Curd and all because of the fabulous golden yolked eggs.

3   The lovely Mr S called me into the garden to see a beautiful visitor this afternoon – a Red Admiral Butterfly, looking a bit rough around the edges but lovely to watch fluttering around the garden.

Lemons, Buttercups and A Meeting

1    Choc Chip Uru sent this along today and I love it – both for its philosophy and because I love lemons and cooking with lemons as you will see from my recipe pages!  You can add Lemon Curd, Lemon Butter Cake, Lemony Courgettes and more to that list!

2   Our lovely horses in the back field (not really ours, we just like to pretend!) are up to their knees in buttercups!  Do horses have knees?

Swiss Roll, Lemons and Family Togetherness

1   I needed to keep myself busy today so, the weather being unfit for a good stomp, baking was the answer.  I decided to make a Swiss Roll and the lovely Mr S requested Lemon Curd Swiss Roll where I prefer raspberry.  We had run out of Lemon Curd so I started by making a batch of that and then made a twin flavoured Swiss Roll!

3    We Skyped with D in Barcelona to bring him and his Senegalese wife up to date with regard to the newest member of our family. He taught us the following expression in Warlof which means We’re all in this together / Family support is all around you, which is so lovely  – Nyo far.

PS  Thank you to so many of you who have sent love and support for us and Grandbaby B.

and I just have to add another beautiful thng I was too late for yesterday…..

….Danny Welbeck’s goal! I watch the football with Mr S, often reading or knitting at the same time.  I do enjoy a good game and just loved the amazingly deft footwork and the beautiful back heel that resulted in England’s 3rd goal last night!
