Happiness Calendar, Knitting and Flowers

I have had the loveliest afternoon, first singing where we rehearsed for our part in Thursday evening for the ShelterBox Christmas concert in Truro Cathdral followed by a couple of hours with a delightful young friend who has asked for help as she learns to knit.

She brought me a very pretty little bunch of flowers as a thank you.

Flowers, Lampshades and Truro Cathedral

We’ve been in Truro today and the window boxes are still looking lovely.

Although it’s a bit early for these decorations, it made me smile to see all these bright orange pumpkin lampshades in a local restaurant.

This view of the Cathedral is what a small girl of about three years old saw and exclaimed excitedly, “Mummy, there’s a castle!” All three of these things made me smile this morning.

By the River, By the Sea and A Talk

The Penryn River was so beautiful this morning as we gathered for our weekly sing.

We went for lunch at The Gylly and walked by the sea, such a gloriously bright, sunny and warm (in the sunshine) day.

This evening we went to a fascinating ‘symposium’ where the artist Tony Foster and guests were talking about how his art is seen through the lens of meteorology, mineralogy, environmental science and archaeology, and what insights it can give us into how to use our own fleeting time on earth. I wrote about visiting the exhibition here. If you put Tony Foster into my search box, you’ll find lots more information about him and his work.

Posy, Wall Hanging and Useful Words

I picked a little posy of marigolds and purple sweet peas today.

I love the wall hanging seen a couple of weeks ago in Truro Cathedral that says thank you to their volunteers.

We’ve had a lovely time today as friends we made on holiday in Tuscany last year came to visit, brought us lunch and lifted our spirits enormously. As on holiday, we talked and talked, laughed and laughed and shared so much that matters.

Spirals, Chocolates and Supper

I missed Roots this morning as the charging cable for my laptop had broken so I had to go to Truro to get a new one. As I was on my own, I spent another hour or so in the Cathedral admiring Jacqui Parkinson’s beautiful textile hangings that I told you about a few weeks ago. Check that post out here. Today I was looking more closely at detail and became aware that there were spirals in every piece and then saw that the artist explains her intention. Do enjoy the gallery.

Not sure about the spiral in this one….

I then went to buy chocolates for a treat for my lovely Mr S at home on his own for the first time since his op and was drawn to some with spirals!

I made a delicious ratatouille for dinner tonight, seven plant foods in one meal.

Exhibition at Truro Cathedral

Regular readers will know that I love textiles and creativity and today we saw the most amazing exhibition of beautiful textile panels in the Cathedral. Threads Through Creation is a wonderful depiction of the story of the creation as told in the Bible. If you live anywhere nearby or the exhibition comes near you, do go to see it. I want to go again when I have more time. Here is a gallery to give you a flavour of this glorious work.

Moon, Concert and Daisies

I’m so glad my lovely Mr S woke me up last night to see the full moon, the Strawberry Moon, as tonight the skies are full of cloud.

Tonight we went to Truro Cathedral to a candlelight performance of Fleetwood Mac. Sadly, the sound wasn’t good and we were among many who left halfway through.

Walking to the carpark through Walsingham Place, every garden was full of daisies.

Fish, Flowers and A Mural

After breakfast with friends, we walked a little in Boscawen Park which borders the Truro River and I noticed a fish sculpture. It looks as if it might have come from a building at some point. I couldn’t see any info and would like to know what it signifies.
