Fashion Resisters, Special Days and Special Clothes

Just in from a brilliant evening……

Today is International Repair Day, which is the bread and butter of our lovely Make A Mends shop in Redruth.

and it’s also World Earthworm Day. You may remember the cardigan that I posted about last week – as  the   rhyme  suggests  worms are vital for soil  health and consequently,  our   health.

I won a worm!

We are so lucky to have Make A Mends in town.

A Fox, Blooms and Planting

A fox spent twenty minutes or so prowling around the field at the back. It looked really well with a magnificent brush.

We still have odd flowers giving colour and lots of white clematis.

I’ve planted crocuses in my Suffragette garden today, purple and white of course.

Posters, A Tree and Blooms

I showed you some of the posters in town last Saturday. Here now is the information about them and another couple of the posters.

And here is one of the trees in Fore Street that I showed you last week in all its Autumnal glory. Today more of its leaves have fallen.

We still have some blooms in the garden. I often think of our dear friend Ti and looking at the flowers this afternoon, i was thinking of the lovely garden posy we could have picked for her today.

Baking, Quiz Night and Tobi

I made Eccles Cakes today, lovely Mr S’s favourites and my favourites, cheesy leftover bits!

I joined a team for Quiz Night which was fun tonight.

Tobi, the puppy I met a couple of weeks ago, spent the evening chewing my shoelaces!

Calm Waters, Every Day and Moon

The water of the Penryn River was so still this morning.

Thought I’d try black and white and liked this one.

It’s five years since I last posted the following words, still pertinent.

I published a couple of hours ago thinking the clouds would stop me seeing the Super Moon tonight but they  cleared a little and here is the Hunter’s Moon for you.

Image taken through the double glazed window.

For this one I went out of the back door to get a clearer image.

I do love to see the full moon.

Jaclarabag

Tonight I’ve just been to a brilliant gig in Redruth Wesley Chapel, a delightful evening of eclectic music from three fabulous  musicians who play 14 instruments between them.

They are on tour at the moment so if you get the chance to see them, do go. You’ll come away smiling and full of endorphins!

Squash, Gladiolus and Pear

It’s Tuesday, it’s Roots day. I helped to harvest squash and chillies today.

Yesterday I picked the last Gladiolus and brought it home, all in bud. Now in the warmth of the kitchen it has bloomed.

Look how pretty the slice of pear is.

Concert Success, Raspberries and Dessert

Last night’s concert was a success in so many ways. As I wrote last night, the audience loved us but perhaps even better was the generosity of everyone there. We were collecting for our two charities, ShelterBox and our local food bank, CPR.  We collected £800 though tickets and raffles!  We also asked everyone to bring a contribution for the food bank and when taken to the centre there were over two trollies full!

Thanks to Richard for the photo.

I collected 250g of Autumn fruiting raspberries from our allotment on Sunday on the same day that Nigel Slater published a delicious sounding recipe, Raspberry and Apple Crisp. It was delicious!

I’m just home from our marvellous concert at the Eco Park. Our audience were fabulous and gave us a standing ovation!

A Tree, A Cardigan and A Jacket

In town today, the trees in Fore Street are turning golden as Autumn takes them.

In Make A Mends today were two items that I covet! The cardigan I have to go back and try on. I just love the poem on the back!

I love the embroidery on the jacket but the sleeves were too short for me. I did try this one on but reluctantly left it behind for someone else to buy and love.
