Community Art Workshop

I joined a bunch of people today to make accoutrements for our section of the town’s next Hurling event. Please look back at last year to see the inaugural event of Hurling to Goal, an ancient Cornish game being revived. We painted flags and tabards, fixed drums and made halos.

Tulip, Bluebell and Another Bag

I love these orange tulips that are scented. Sadly only a couple have flowered this year though I planted a dozen properly  deeply a few years ago.

One of our beautiful English Bluebells is beginning to open.

I’ve been sewing again most of today and have two more bags nearly done. I have used some lovely bright fabric that I got in Senegal eleven years ago when we were there for our son’s wedding. If you’d like to see some of the colour and fun of that trip, look here.

Blossom, Lighthouse and Sand Art

It was lovely to see the blossom opening on one of the trees in the carpark when we went to the green grocer’s this morning.

I needed some air and some wild seas this afternoon and Godrevy gave me some of what was necessary – waves and wind and some sanity.

On the left of the photo, you can just see the sand artist with his rake on the  beach at Gwithian.

Pink Moon, First Rhubarb and Tulips

Last night’s full moon is known as the pink moon, not really because it is pink but because of the lovely pink flowers that bloom at this time of year.

Our first rhubarb from the forcer is a lovely delicate pink.

We are loving the tulips as they start to bloom.

Greenfinch, Pie and A Good Read

An occasional and very welcome visitor, a Greenfinch, turned up today at the bird feeders along with one of the many Goldfinches.

Photo taken from indoors on a long zoom so that it wasn’t frightened away

I made an Aubergine, Halloumi and Tomato Pie for tonight  – recipe from the BBC Good Food website, –  and it was scrumptious!

I’m almost at the end of a very good read, The Lip by Charlie Carroll. This very moving story is set on the North Coast of Cornwall and is absolutely engrossing. It’s about childhood and isolation, love and memory and has been unputdownable.

Pumpkins, Soup and Narcissi

Last November, we had harvested several squash and pumpkins from our allotment and today I used the last of them, the biggest green one, now ripe and orange, from the back left of the photo.

I made 6 pints of fabulous Thai Pumpkin Soup, froze 5 and we had some for lunch with a drizzle of Basil Cream.

The Narcissi that we have in this week are very delicate and pretty.

Door, Bag and Flower

Whenever we have gone past this building , it has been open so we haven’t seen these beautiful doors before. What a lovely surprise!

I did my Roots’ volunteering from home today and made another bag for the veggies to go out to customers.

Our Fritillaria  meleagris (Snake’s Head frittilary) are blooming. We love the chequer-board colouring.

A Beautiful Book

This lovely page is taken from a beautiful book that I was given a couple of years ago. It’s good to dip into now and again.

Singing in Truro Cathedral

What a fabulous event this was to be a part of!

Truro Cathedral Concert

Our wonderful audience raised ÂŁ720 for our three charities. Here we are singing the wonderful last song, “We Shall Be Known” by Karisha Longaker of MaMuse.

Thank you to the lovely Mr S for the video.
