Sea Holly, Second Flush and Poppy Petal

After singing this morning, as it is the last of the term,  we all went down to Gylly Beach for a picnic. The Sea Holly in the gardens was gorgeous.DSCN3290 (1)

Our beautifully scented climbing rose is having a second flush which is a delight.

We missed the poppy from which this petal came but isn’t it beautiful? Just look at the sheen and the shape as it sits on the soil.DSCN3306

Capricorn Moon, Hector and A Bit of Blue

Last night’s moon was huge! By the time we got home from Truro, it was even more obscured by the clouds but that made for such a dramatic picture. Click on the photo to see the whole scene. I’m not sure why it is called a Capricorn as that star sign is six months away. Perhaps one of my lovely readers will be able to tell me.

Today in the Osteopath’s office was the second dog that I have fallen in love with! He is called Hector and is both beautiful and a delight. He wanted to play and sat on command for me to take his photo. The first was Kaia, a beautiful Golden Labrador.

On the walk home I spotted this tiny bit of beautiful blue in the middle of this lovely Hydrangea.DSCN3270

The Wedding, The Bride and Some Shoes

We had a glorious and very happy Sunday celebrating, with family, the marriage of one of our nieces.  I left my memory cards at home so had only the limited number of photos that the camera itself will record. Here then, is the beautiful Bride, a detail of her lovely dress and some of the gorgeous shoes worn by the guests.

Swifts, a Poem for Our Times

A good friend sent me this poem by Kim Ridgeon which I found very apt for our ‘troubled times’ and very moving.

We must have hope in the darkness, must love and live and above all, be kind to those we know and to those strangers whom we pass in the street and those whom we meet. Think about the Swifts.  Thank you Kim for this.

We went to a beautiful and life affirming wedding yesterday and will post some photos when I have solved how to get the photos out of my camera! I didn’t have a memory card and recorded direct to the camera……

Grasshopper, Alstroemeria and Chaffinch

This week’s Photo Challenge is Detail which suits me very well. Here are today’s three beautiful things in close up, showing detail. First a Field Grasshopper. I love his armour plating.

Alstroemeria light up in the sunshine and have beautiful markings.

This young bird has a crest as he flies in and lands but would not stay still enough for me to catch it.  His youth shows in the fluffy detail around the edges.

The Black Pearl, Sugar Bowl and Cascading Flowers

As you can see, the dress I fell in love with is still in the shop. I tried it on, and the navy version, but, sadly,  it just wasn’t quite right. The shop is full of beautiful clothes in my ‘style’ so I will be back.DSCN3100

Afterward we went to Dolly’s Tearooms for cake! I loved this little sugar bowl. I took the above photo on my way back. It’s still a beautiful frock!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Look Up

We were in London at the end of June and I took this photo looking up at Big Ben.  The detail took my breath away.

Shoreline at Kynance Cove

Two more wonderful and very moving performances of the Shoreline production, this time at Kynance Cove, where the sun smiled on us all afternoon and evening.  Our audiences were amazing and very complimentary.

Beaches in Cornwall change tide by tide and Kynance is no exception. An enormous pile of seaweed had been washed up on the beach just where our ‘stage’ was to be so our warm up was a beach clean so that the dancers could dance safely and we, along with the audience could move across the beach without hazard.

Here are some views of this very beautiful cove and one photo of the dancers in the water, courtesy of our friend David. Tomorrow sees the last two performances.

Dress, Strawberry Tartlets and Lucifer

I saw this dress today and fell in love with it. Sadly, it remains in the shop, The Black Pearl in Falmouth …… I may have to go back – at least to try it on!

Isn't this beautiful?

These scrumptious little tartlets were our treat today.

The Crocosmia Lucifers are coming into flower. I love the buds and the vibrant colour. I was delighted to see a curious little bug looking around when I uploaded the photo. Zoom in – he’s delightful!
