Peace, Cinder Toffee and A Bonfire

I added a white Peace poppy to the Redruth Welly Dogs today.

I made cinder toffee for the bonfire party at the allotment this evening (and Spiced Carrot Cake)

After our bonfire, shared delicious Lottie Soup and various other delectables, we watched the firework display happening down in the town.

Hedgehogs, Lasagne and September Flowers

One of the roundabouts in Truro has won an award! It is a delight to drive around but hard to take photos of so I have borrowed this one. If anyone can tell me the photographer, please do so that they can be credited. “The Roundabout Appreciation Society (RAS) praised the “quirky” roundabout in Truro, which features hedgehogs named Cecile, Patricia, Denzil and Kizzy.”

I have made another Jackfruit Lasagne to share with veggie friends. It is truly delicious!

In our late September garden there are Fucshia, Japanese anemones, Clematis and amid them all, a smiling Welly Dog.

Welly Dogs, Notice and Book No 4

I was told that our Tinners’ Hounds (known affectionately by locals as Welly Dogs) in town had poppies for Remembrance tied around their necks so we took a walk into Redruth to find them. For those of you who would like to know more about our Welly Dogs, do follow this link to the sculptor’s blog. I have only just found it and it is a delight to read about their origin.

Fastened to one of the dogs was a notice warning people to look in their bonfires this weekend (It’s Bonfire Night on 5th November) to make sure no hedgehogs have taken shelter there.

Reminder

Today is Day 4 of the Book Challenge I am taking part in elsewhere and my choice for today of a book that I love is ‘The Fate of Jeremy Visick’ by David Wiseman, my Dad.

Twelve Hours in Our Garden

The first photo I took across the back garden at 6.30 am.  The snow stopped falling and I went out to have the fun I missed out on last time we had snow and built my Suffragette Snow Woman. Now the snow is almost completely gone, just odd icy remnants left behind. Click on any photo in the gallery for more detail.
