At the end of September I posted a poem by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer that pleased me very much and one of my blogging friends, in her comments, told me that you can subscribe and get a poem every day in your inbox. Thank you unexpectedincommonhours. I did that and today came this most apt poem. As regular readers know the situation is one I have been in very recently.
On the Night Before Your Surgery
While one hand
brushes my teeth,
the other reaches
to your room far away
to cradle your heart
as you sleep.
I emailed the poet and she very kindly said I could post this special poem for you too. It really touched me.

Before I went into singing today, I stood by the Penryn River for a while and watched the water and the sunlight upon it. 
The wind and rain have beaten down the dahlias but this one was saveable and here it is in all its glory. 
It’s National Poetry Day today and I have a poem for you. The theme of the day is Counting.
What counts?
Well, I do, almost every night between two and three
counting backwards from one hundred and
imagining each number in a different material
Rope numbers are thick and twisted,
embroidery silks are fine and gloriously coloured,
wool gets tangled and spider silk is almost too fine to see.
But what really counts
is love
and friendship
and care
and singing
and hugs
and freshly laid eggs.

It has been really lovely having LiveWires here over the last ten days and especially having a writer and then a photographer ready to take over the blog. Thank you to them and to all you dear readers who took the time to write such friendly and confidence boosting comments for the youngsters.
On one of their walks up and around the Great Flat Lode, a few pounds of delicious blackberries were picked. Some went into a Blackberry and Apple Crumble, some into the freezer and some into four little pots of Blackberry and Apple Jam, one of which will go home to Barcelona at the end of the week. 
Our beautiful golden roses, the bush given to us seven years ago for our Golden Wedding, were weighed down by the overnight rain so I brought them in to be able to enjoy them to the full.
Such a busy day at Roots, school holidays means lots of youngsters all doing their bit. More onions harvested today too.
The post brought a package, two beautiful crochet butterflies made for me by a wonderful blog follower in my favourite Suffragette colours, purple, white and green. Thank you so much, J. 
I’ve posted Lemm Sissay’s poetry before and when I saw this lovely mural on Fb had to share it. I don’t know the artist or the photographer to credit. Please help if you can. 
I’m back!
In the first photo, you may notice, top right, the little ‘pixie cap’ on one of the yet-to-open Californian Poppies. The short video shows the little bit of magic that I witnessed this morning, the pixie cap hovering in the air. It seems that a silk thread from a spider making her web, caught the little piece as it left the bloom and then the breeze kept it moving in the air, apparently freely, for hours. 
It was my first trip in a week to the allotment this evening and there were crops to harvest, some rather large! Thank you very much to S who has been watering our tomatoes while we’ve been out of action.
A bunch of lovely words came my way today, some I knew already, though I only learned columella nasi last week as that is where I had my surgery. I am mending well and I thank you all for your concern and kindness. My favourite of the words new to me is ‘overmorrow.’ I am hoping to feel right to go to choir overmorrw (i.e. on Thursday!)

It’s been a day of kindnesses and all have been greatly appreciated.
In the post today came a couple of cards full of love and one containing more sea glass from my blogging friend Judith as well as a beautiful butterfly that she has made for me. Thank you, J.
Then from my blogging friend, Nancy, the following which I love.
And, just now, by email, a song, “This Love Will Carry.” I was unable to go to choir today as I was to have my stitches out. As it turned out, the wound was not quite ready so I have to return on Wednesday. This song was recorded for me and the others who were unable to be there and who were missed. Another friend brought us the eggs that I normally collect from other friends at rehearsal.
I am quite overwhelmed with the love and kindnesses washing around me.

I have cut three of the beautiful golden roses we were given for our Golden wedding some years ago. They smell divine.

And it’s Father’s Day so just a word to remember my lovely Dad.
