River, Easter Topper and A Hitchhiker

Penryn River

Spotted this hitchhiker as we parked up

Blues, Gold and The Sculpture

We have yet another bright blue day, water and sky just lovely – despite the still chill wind.

Golden dandelion and blur Forget-me-nots as referenced in Kim’s poem a couple of days ago.

Just look at the tail of the fox!

International Day of Happiness

Just look at the view from the Zed Shed where we rehearsed this morning  and then listen to an African piece that we sang today. Thanks to S for the recording. I hope both contribute to your happiness!

Cornish Flag, River and Viaduct

An amusing take on the Cornish flag on the back of a car we followed today.

Wind ruffled water in the Penryn River this morning – big contrast with the glassy surface last week.

Reflections, Stitching and A Jigsaw

Catching up after my break – here is the very still water of the Penryn River last Thursday with beautiful reflections.

We loved the work – and the philosophy expressed –  in this jacket, seen in one of the lovely independent shops in our town, Make A Mends.

We’ve had fun doing the undersea jigsaw we borrowed from friends, now completed,  and we have started another featuring books and cats!

Clouds, Birds and Sunset

Early clouds over the Penryn River

There were 28 of these birds on the river as the tide went out. I think they may be Canada Geese

Red Shanks and A Tea-towel

Yesterday, after choir,  there was a flock of unusual birds on the muddy Penryn River. I asked a knowledgeable friend and he has kindly told me,  “They are definitely Redshank. We usually get 2 or 3 most low tides, but I guess they were hunkering down before the storm.”

A friend, knowing of my family history and my interest in the Suffragettes, gave me this delightfully illustrated tea-towel.

Thanks, J. Designed by Alison Gardiner.

Autumn Leaves and Hydrangea

The trees across the river are turning more autumnal but in our garden the hydrangea has two beautiful blooms.

Swan, Autumn Leaves and Guinea Pigs

After singing this morning there was one swan in the mud where the tidal  Penryn  river had gone out.

Some of the trees across the river were in lovely autumn colour.

Lots of local people were invited to be guinea pigs as our Buttermarket food hall opened for a trial run. We had a fabulous evening in what will be Cornwall’s only street food kitchens in a properly lovely venue, the renovated and restored Buttermarket in Redruth. The official opening will be next week and we can’t wait to go back. We are so lucky to have this wonderful new venue in Redruth.

Thank you to all of you who sent love  and condolences in one form or another today, it’s been good to feel the love.
