Dessert and Harvesting
Last night when out with friends, I had the most delicious tiramisu for my dessert.
We’ve been to the allotment this evening to check on our tomatoes and to harvest some more raspberries. The shallots were also ready for harvesting and there was our first courgette! It’s good to get as much in as possible before Wednesday.

Thank you so much for all the lovely messages yesterday.
A Poem For You by Mary Oliver
Yesterday was a strange day and I forgot to post here.
Firstly was the phone call bringing forward the operation on my nose, of all places, where there is another basal cell thingy that needs to be removed. If you like to know detail, look up MOHS surgery. Then there was the disappointment of not being able to see my brother in his last week here but then there was the fun of a night out with good friends with whom we laughed and I was able to forget my fears for the evening.
This poem, that I found a while ago by the wonderful Mary Oliver, seemed totally appropriate for the day. I may not post much over the next few weeks, will be ‘flying low’ but I will be back! Please send me extra special vibes on Wednesday!
Swans, Seagull and A Houseboat
We met my brother and SIL again for lunch today – what a treat it is to have them around for so long. Today we went down to The Pandora Inn on Restronguet Creek, a truly beautiful setting.
After lunch we went back to visit the delightful houseboat that they are staying in this week.
Potting On, Poly Tunnels and A Petal
Volunteering at Community Roots is such a joy. The place and the people combine to make this a place where you can be put back together as you work and chat. Today three of us potted up countless baby asparagus plants, beautiful little things that together in their seed tray looked like a miniature forest of Christmas trees.
I hadn’t been up there for several weeks and the growth in the poly tunnels was remarkable, cucumbers ready for harvesting , red tomatoes likewise, beans galore – such abundance.
Walking about I spotted a beautiful poppy petal, blown off by the wind, and lying among the clover.
Kindness, Crochet and A Song
It’s been a day of kindnesses and all have been greatly appreciated.
In the post today came a couple of cards full of love and one containing more sea glass from my blogging friend Judith as well as a beautiful butterfly that she has made for me. Thank you, J.
Then from my blogging friend, Nancy, the following which I love.
And, just now, by email, a song, “This Love Will Carry.” I was unable to go to choir today as I was to have my stitches out. As it turned out, the wound was not quite ready so I have to return on Wednesday. This song was recorded for me and the others who were unable to be there and who were missed. Do click on the link and listen to my beautiful choir.
Another friend brought us the eggs that I normally collect from other friends at rehearsal.
I am quite overwhelmed with the love and kindnesses washing around me.
P.S. Thank you for all the comments too. I’ll get to them tomorrow xx
The Bench, Leaves and A Bengal Cat
Friends did one of their favourite walks today and had a welcome rest on our bench. We are delighted it has given a space for just that purpose. I love the photo they have sent me.
Bramble leaves are turning already.
I love seeing the Bengal’s beautiful markings when it visits us.
Flowers, Flags and Sunset
In Truro today, to meet my brother and SIL for lunch – how rarely I can say that as they live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA – we were impressed by the gorgeous baskets of flowers.
The flags in Victoria Square as we were waiting for the bus were blowing in the breeze.
A beautiful sunset looked likely so we chanced it and went to the cliffs at St Agnes and there it was, utterly lovely.
