Reading and Watching

It’s been a good week to be out of circulation – lots of Wimbledon, lots of football, a general election and a brilliant, absorbing book of almost 1000 pages to get stuck into.

Kindness, View and A Lily

A lovely friend with whom I sing at choir and work with at Community Roots, has today brought us a big pan of soup, so thick her daughter calls it ‘stewp’! She made it with masses of fresh vegetables all  grown at Community Roots and when others heard the meal was coming to us, added tomatoes, green beans and a big bunch of parsley. It was such a ‘stewp’ that it was our entire delicious evening meal with some crunchy homemade croutons.
Other friends have kept our tomatoes at the allotment well watered. The kindness of friends this week has been just wonderful.  .

I have enjoyed the view of flowers from the kitchen window.

Our lily is blooming.

Plaques, Pink and Perfume

Yesterday, I did as many of my lovely friends and readers suggested and rested after Monday’s somewhat traumatic day so there was no post.  I’m healing well and the first layer of bandages  have come off so with Daughter No 1 here to look after us, we went out late this afternoon and she put the plaques onto the bench.

Growing above the bench is a Sycamore tree and the spinning jennies are newly pink and very pretty.

A beautifully  scented carnation plant was delivered yesterday by one of our lovely friends and its gorgeous scent is filling the room. Thank you P&A.

Jump Back Up July

This calendar arrives at just the right moment. I’ve had surgery today to remove a basal cell carcinoma from my hairline and am trying now to bounce back.  We did ask for help and friends came to the rescue especially G to whom we give special thanks.
