Vegetable Garden, Family and Little Cousins

1   The beautiful Tabitha loved walking around all the paths in the vegetable garden though she had to make her way through, to her,  a jungle of broad beans and rocket.

2  While the children played on the beach, the ‘grown-ups’ had a drink in the Blue Bar!

3   The cousins, who have never met before, are having a whale of a time! As I write, they are in the bath together and all I can hear is lovely laughter, shrieks of delight and splashing water!

PS To all my lovely readers, followers and commenters – I will be very busy this week and I plan to post my blog but won’t have time to read or comment on all the interesting blogs I follow. Forgive me for a week! I will be back…….

Balloon Fairy, Petrichor and Romantic Polish Cranes

1   Sorting out the room for our Grandchildren to sleep in when they arrive late tonight for two weeks, I saw another fairy Sculpture and remembered that I had promised to show you another of my treasures made by the very talented artist Samantha Bryan. The other one can be seen at     http://mybeautfulthings.com/2012/03/09/fur-elise-fairies-and-fishnchips/

Brain’s Airborne Support System

2   We had a very heavy shower onto hot ground this afternoon and, for the first time this Summer, I smelt petrichor! Wikipedia defines it as ‘the scent of rain on dry earth’. My lovely Sister-in-law in Atlanta, Georgia and I discovered the word at the same time so the smell always reminds me of her.

Number 3 was going to be a gorgeous and very big spider that I found in the garden and took a beautifully hairy photo of but just now this delightful email came in from my Brother-in-law in Warsaw, Poland:

“The photo below is about two cranes who met in an injured animals’ clinic in the south of Poland. The female had a broken wing, the male some serious food poisoning. During the course of several months’ treatment they paired up together. The male gradually recovered his strength, but the female’s condition was irreversible, so she didn’t regain the ability to fly. In view of this, the male refrained from cruising off to warmer climes in the winter and remained in Poland; he also decided to start building his partner a nest, on the ground. Which, of course, is pretty unheard-of for cranes…”

Isn’t that just a beautiful story?

The Big Garden Birdwatch, The Beatles and The Treggies

Long-tail tit family

1 We did the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch today and saw 17 different species and 37 birds in the allocated hour. Our delightful  family of six Long-tail Tits joined us along with the Goldcrest which we saw lots of times but always alone so he could only be counted once.

2  My lovely Sister-in-law from Atlanta sent us an email with the following link to ‘The Beatles: Here Comes The Sun! With a Guitar Solo You’ve Never Heard Before’  Magic! Mr S and I met to this song many years ago so it is special for us and this makes it even more so. Have a listen:  http://gizmodo.com/5880091/the-beatles-here-comes-the-sun

3  Singing with The Treggies tonight was, as usual, a good laugh and a challenge, all the more so when H’s keyboard suddenly had an attack of the Clangers so no-one could find their note. It recovered and so did we. Now we’re all ready for The Countryman Shout next Sunday.

Sister-in-law, New Machine and Crepes Suzettes

1  An email from my Sister-in-law in Munich was an unexpected surprise. Last time we saw them was in May when they came to Cornwall for a Truro School Reunion.

2  Our new washing machine was delivered! We’ve been without for two weeks over Christmas and Grandbabies visiting!

3  Mr S asked for Crepes Suzettes for supper! He certainly is getting better; such relief.

Two Cards, Fabulous ‘Christmas Leftovers Soup’ and Family Visit

1  My lovely sister in Hawaii has made a beautiful Christmas card of her turtle experience and it arrived today and I found the perfect birthday card for my very good friend, Angie, left behind in the North when we moved back home. That delightful ‘pig of happiness’ says it all.

2  For lunch today we had our fabulous ‘Christmas Leftovers Soup’- our favourite meal of the season! The stock has been simmering for two days making the most amazing broth to which I added everything leftover!

3  My sister-in-law in Atlanta, Georgia emailed to say they have their dates for their visit next year! They’re renting a cottage in St Mawes and my brother and his wife will also come over from Germany to visit at the same time. V&P from Atlanta have not been to the UK for 8 years!
